- Aude P14 contributionsWe had an unforgettable time in Calakmul with our guide, Roberto. Thank You!Booking our tour was handled very well by VisitCalakmul. They responded very quickly to our questions. They also gave us a lot of information, including the road which has many potholes along the route, and the prices to access the site. Everything was simple, fast and adapted to our requests. Our guide, Roberto, was very punctual and speaks English fluently. Before visiting the site, we took a morning walk in the jungle. Roberto gave us many explanations about animals and plants. He really knows a lot about the Calakmul biosphere and in addition, he was very patient with us every time we stopped to look at the monkeys, the trees, and then the archaeological site. Roberto took the time to explain the different Mayan dynasties to us, which we really appreciated. He was very enthusiastic about sharing information and answering our questions. The Calakmul site and its jungle are exceptional. We were lucky to have gone there and also with Roberto.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 9, 2024
- Gemma L2 contributionsAmazing! The tour we had with Roberto was excellent! His knowledge of the site and the jungle flora and fauna was brilliant, and we were able to see a lot of different birds and animals. The tour around the Calakmul site was the best we had on our trip around Mexico!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 29, 2024
- psw21Cancun, Mexico65 contributionsIndependent, detailed, reliable and seemingly unbiased adviceI popped into the tourist information office in Xpujil to ask for advice about other sites in the area, beside Calakmul, and how to prioritise them. I came out with soooo much more. Anabel explained all the sites and their respective advantage and unique characteristics, as well as other places to visit such as handicraft workshops together with members of a local community. Saying that I wanted no more than information, I came out with a guide booked for Calakmul, which went exactly as she had described. Anabel’s information was accurate in every respect. Her advice to visit Balamku after exiting Calakmul was genius, well worthwhile visiting. She recommended Becan above other sites local to Xpujil , and of about 25 Mayan sites that is suddenly my favourite. I also visited the ruins at El Hormiguero and Xpujil , but will be back with my family to show them all I saw and do it all through Anabel. Oh, and information offered without any apparent expectation of payment of pressure to book anything.Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten June 25, 2024

Visit Calakmul is the best way to get access to all the things the area has to offer. We chose to visit 20 de Noviembre and the caves in Christopher Columbe with guides. The guides were all knowledgeable and so wholesome. Out favorite part was the activity in 20 de Noviembre, we chose the woodworking class by Mayan artisans and it did not disappoint. The family that taught us was extremely welcoming and so knowledgeable of their craft. My only grievance is my own lack of knowing Spanish as the communities didn’t know a bunch of English so we missed out on some key translations.
Also, the wonderful lady who planned the whole day was so helpful and responsive. She came up with an entire itinerary a day before we wanted to visit and it all went so smoothly!

We booked a guide via VisitCalakmul (which is more a Tourisme office than an agency). We had an early walk in the jungle with a lot of explanations about animals and plants. After that we visit the amazing site of Calakmul, in the middle of the Jungle. We loved the place ❤️ we stayed only 24hours in the region but I would recommend anyone who has time to stay 2 days.

we did the following with Visit Calakmul:
Wood Working Workshop and lunch at 20 de Noviembre
Calakmul day trip with jungle trail and bat cave
Hormiego Ruins and trail (walking)
everything was great. The quality of the hosts and guides was outstanding as well as the support from Anable to figure out what we actually wanted was very flexible and forthcoming, despite slow and delayed responses from us. Keep in mind to best contact them 5-7 days before you want to come (shorter notice period was also possible in our case, but it was going towards low season).

Visit Calakmul organized for our Family a 3,5 day Visit to the Calakmul Region, being able to dive into Nature, Maya culture and the lives of People living in and around Calakmul. Very well organized, all guides on time and simple but clean accommodation. Certainly worth the trip, away from the big Tourist traps around Cancun.

We’ve had a great day at Calakmul with our tourguide Ezequiel and we’d recommend him to anyone going there to get the full experience. The communication with visitcalakmul was easy and happened via whatsapp since we just arrived the evening before the trip. It worked very well and Anabel organized the trip with Ezequiel for us just as we wished. We wanted an experienced guide with a lot of knowledge not only about the Mayan culture but also about Flora and Fauna. With Ezequiel, who also worked as a birdwatcher in the Calakmul reserve, we got exactly what we’ve been looking for. He took us on a 2 hour walk through the jungle before he showed us the Mayan site and stayed with us for the whole day. We learned a lot of him and are really happy that we‘ve gotten him as our tourguide.

We did a hammock workshop and did not expect to actually go home with 2 mini-hammocks! The hosts were very friendly and patient, despite our limited Spanish they made us feel at home. It was also nice to spend some time in the community of 20 Noviembre and see how this group of Maya people live. Highly recommended!

My wife, Marijke and I had a very good experience during our jungle trip in Calakmul. Visitcalakmul gave accurate and correct , on time, information about the trip and took in a efficiënt way care of our transport to Bacalar the day after. Communication through WhatsApp was quick and to the point. Thanks Anabel.

Visit Calakmul helped us organize our day tour in Calakmul, by providing us with the different options available (transportation, collective tour, private tour etc...). They advised us to go with the private tour since there was 4 of us as it was more interesting price-wise. They organized everything with the guide, who was very knowledgeable. Our day was filled with a jungle trail, a visit of the ruins and a trip to the bat cave, it was perfect and reasonably priced.
