Due to COVID, we had made a reservation and the tasting was being held outside, which we were pleased with. The tasting fee included an etched glass to keep. When we arrived we were shown to a large picnic table for the four of us. In other tastings we have been to, when the wines were not pre-poured, we would place our wine glasses at the one end of the table while we sat at the far end. Once the staff person had filled our glasses and stepped away, we would then retrieve our individual glasses. This did not occur at Fairview Cellars. The staff person, who was not wearing a mask, kept coming up behind our friends who were seated across from us and pouring the wine in between the two of them in very close proximity to them. It was a very uncomfortable experience for us all and inconsistent with COVID protocols.

Went here June 25 for a tasting with friends, 6 of us in total. Tasting was outside on their patio with big picnic tables that could fit 8 comfortably. They have umbrellas and tents as well on some tables which is nice. They are spaced apart from other tables/groups for social distancing. Covid safety measure - You pay $15 for the Reidel glass with Fairview’s logo etched on it that you have all your tastings in, so it’s a nice souvenir. Sue was a fun friendly host who made the experience so enjoyable. Bill also made the rounds to check on and chat with guests which was really nice. Wines were top notch. Flavorful reds from Pinot Noir to Cab Franc. So many favorites. Our group especially loved the Pinot Noir, the Bear, Bucket of Blood, and my favorite of the tasting the 2016 Pendiente De La Terraza. One of the best tasting experiences in Oliver, first class wines, down to earth people and multiple tastings to be able to taste their portfolio. SO WORTH IT.

The vintner, Bill is a cool dude and does make some excellent wines. Bucket of blood and madcap red are our favorites. They are up the hill outside Oliver and there are great views on the way to Bill's place

The tasting room was very quaint and welcoming. Though we arrived after closing, we were still greeted warmly and invited in. The tasting room lady (so sorry I forgot her name) was knowledgeable about the wines and shared accurate tasting notes with us. Bill, the owner and wine-maker arrived and shared even more about his experience and thinking behind the wines. We (and our doggie), joined Bill and some of his friends for some further tasting on the patio. Bill was welcoming and engaging and clearly proud of his excellent red wines. The wine was terrific, the location beautiful (though required careful directions) and the experience memorable. A must visit for an Okanagan wine tour.
