About
It’s All About The Wine Balance is a time-honored goal in the making of premium wines and working toward balance is a way of life at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. Founder Jim Wyse is committed to balance, well beyond that of the fine, world-class wines being produced. A kind of Hippocratic oath (“to do no harm”) underlies the creative viticultural and enological practices at Burrowing Owl.

We stopped into the Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, even with Covid-19 restrictions and physical distancing they were able to deliver a very enjoyable wine tasting. The views from the winery are truly beautiful. If your in Oliver BC make this one of your must see wineries.

Lunch in late Fall on a sunny Friday afternoon. Only 3 couples, spaced along the panorama windows allowed for amazing service! The chef (Quebec, French, Classic) was truly gifted and the wine pairings were unforgettable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Before going for dinner, we had booked a wine tasting and it did not disappoint! Our host, Steve, was very knowledgeable and could answer all our questions. We got to taste five wines each and we walked away with bottles and an appreciation of their quality products.
The building itself, which includes a restaurant snd a guest house, is classy and blends well with its surroundings.
Well worth the visit!!

Stunning location with great views - climb the tower! Yes, you do need a reservation. We had a wonderful "guide" to take us through their lovely wines. The reasonable tasting fee is donated to their work with actual burrowing owls! Overall a great experience well worth the trip.

This was our first visit to Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, but it won’t be our last. We did not have time for a meal, but thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting. The tasting fees are donated to a burrowing owl conservation organization, which we appreciate. And my fave BC Chardonnay is from this winery: mellow, oaky, buttery and delicious. We also enjoyed the port-fortified wine (La Coruja) and the Syrah — so much that we sent a case of wine home for later enjoyment. If possible, give yourself a little time to soak up the Sonoran desert vibes here in Oliver, so different from further north in the Okanagan. Highly recommended

If you only want to taste one thing before buying - its free. Wines are consistently reliable, but getting a bit pricey; in part, this is because they hold them back until they are drinkable.
The restaurant is solid and will accommodate dietary issues.
Great views from the sometimes windy balcony seating. Fun to go up the tower for the 360.

Went to the tasting room and enjoyed tastes of some fine wines.
Carried on into the restaurant, three of us shared a platter and the other had a burger. Platter was a wonderful mixture of meats ,cheeses, mustards relishes and olives, very good. Burger was greatly enjoyed.
Strangely enough, to my mind anyway, none of the wines that we tasted were offered by the glass. We enjoyed our wine, but pricing seemed a little high,
Would we return? Most definitely, beautiful setting, nice restaurant , good service

The only saving grace here is their stunning view/setting. After a complete tasting, we struggled to find a wine we felt was worth our purchase. We ended up spending nearly $750 at two other wineries in the area....Black Hills and Road 13 instead and glad we did.

Traditional stand at the tasting bar - our appointment was last of the day and hostess was really ready to go home. Didn't give us much background on the wines nor show much interest in the tasting. That said the wines were very good

We came to do a wine tasting and buy some of their great wine, but decided to do lunch as well. As someone who loves to cook and is really particular, I have reasonable expectations for most restaurants. The food here however blew me away!
First off, the view was beautiful, perched on a hill overlooking the lovely wine valley. Our server "Ally" was incredibly professional, pleasant, fun and knowledgeable.
We ordered the warm peach salad with goat cheese and prosciutto for a starter at her recommendation. I had the mushroom quiche and my brother ordered the burger. Both of us were stunned at how amazing everything tasted. The peaches are grown locally and perfect at this time of year. the quiche was the best I have ever had and the accompanying side salad, rivaled that at some of the best restaurants I have been too. Instead of ketchup, they serve a tomato jam ,that I would love love to get my hands on...My glass of 2015 Meritage was divine. They have a guest hotel on site, and now I am strategizing when to come back! Unfortunately the rumor is that they are booked through 2023 :(

Is the restaurant open for lunch this week. Oct 8 to 12 ?

The fall season means the closing of some of the restaurants. I recall being here for dinner, as well as for lunch.
