I’m a bit loathe to write those review if it means less availability at this fantastic place.

The accommodation is welcoming and the facilities wonderful. Comfy beds, well appointed kitchen and a relaxing sitting room … not that you will be spending much time indoors due to the plethora of activities and sights surrounding this impressive building.

Yes, it’s a lighthouse but it’s also a base from which you can explore this truly beautiful part of the world.

Beaches, walks, views … the area has it all.

The lighthouse is also the setting off point for the 3 km walk to the Old Man Of Stoer sea stack which you MUST do.

The downstairs flat is dog friendly too which was a huge bonus as we could bring along our two rascals.

I can only say, I LOVE this place, don’t want to leave and can’t wait to get back … we are already planning our next trip.

We enjoyed three wonderful nights in the exceptionally atmospheric surroundings of the lighthouse in Stoer. Clean, comfortable and incredibly cosy, the upper flat affords stunning views of the surrounding land- and seascapes. The rooms are generously proportioned and the kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly want. The attentive owners are extremely quick to respond to queries. The nearby beaches of Achmelvich and Clachtoll are jaw-dropping. A trip to the Old Man of Stoer is essential – we were lucky enough to see an eagle soaring above us as we reached the viewpoint. Highly recommended accommodation in a beautiful wilderness.

Review of the lighthouse as a structure, not the rental apartments available.

A long and sometimes arduous journey from our base near Thurso but worth every minute meandering through single track roads. The sat nav was also spot on for taking us all the way there too from our previous stop at Smoo Cave.

You are rewarded with the ability to park at the lighthouse itself - always nice - and ample opportunities to capture it from all angles, albeit from outside the compound as it is a private rental property.

As you wander the area around the lighthouse beware unmarked cliff edges which can be quite sudden and nearly caught me out with an unexpected increase is steepness.

There is a small car park immediately before the lighthouse with what purports to be a pay toilet and if you are feeling flush, pun intended, you too can feed it several pounds worth of 50 pence coins in an attempt to get in but be warned, on our visit it would take your money and that is where the exchange ended. Just in case bring some 50p coins as it may well work when you need it most!

Visited the lighthouse during a stay in Inverness. It's an interesting place to visit, if a bit remote. A good stop on the North Coast 500 if the weather is good. When we visited it was windy but thankfully dry!

A wonderful place of peace and serenity. We we're spending a pleasant time dolphin watching in August 2014 when the peace was broken by a string of expletives and a screeching of tyres. Upon looking around to locate the source of the commotion I was shocked to see that it was the proprietor of the "Living the Dream" tea van. At the time there were a number of small family groups with children within earshot of the outburst. This for many reasons is highly inappropriate behaviour. Not least being in earshot of ones potential customers. in business it is fairly suicidal to upset your customer base. Especially in such a remote location where the tourist is your main customer.

Park your car at the lighthouse and walk along the coastline for 1hr to find the "Old Man of Stoer". From there walk up the "hill" and find an astonishing view over the highlands and the surrounding hills.

Traveled here with a group of friends of 6, booked both floors of the Lighthouse which consist of 2 floors, with 2 rooms on each floor. Each room consists of 2 twin beds thus a total of 4 beds on 1st floor and 4 beds on ground floor. Both floors are also equipped with a bathroom, a living room and a dining/kitchen room.
Minimum rental is for 3 nights and we stayed there from Saturday till Tuesday.
The amenities are provided and complete - kitchenware, oven, cooking hobs, towels. However toiletries are not provided and please either buy or bring your own.
Location is rather remote with narrow single way road but the view is great and the lighthouse is amazing and that makes all the journey so worthwhile.
The apartments as a whole are clean, bright and airy and amazing view from the first floor. The surrounding and the view are amazing.
When I first stepped in, I can't believe at the quality of the finishing of both floors - at par or even better than most hotels in London.
To the lighthouse caretaker, congratulations. You have done an amazing job.
Totally worth it.

We stayed in the first floor apartment which was superbly furnished, warm & well equipped. Views along the coast & inland are stunning, as are the sunsets. It is remote, & I mean remote, but if you are looking for a quiet base for exploring this part of north west of Scotland from, it is ideal. We loved it!

I booked 3 nights at the Stoer Lighthouse self-catering to celebrate our Anniversary. The location is amazing and the accommodation is superb. We had a wonderful weekend there. We stayed at the downstairs apartment, which meant we had to move two single beds together because the upstairs flat was not available for the dates we needed and it does have a double bed. The single duvets are too small for an adult but apart from that I can’t praise the place enough.
