Nice easy walk with lots of birds to be seen.

This is a nice walk from the town along to Shakey Bridge and back although the signposting from the town does need to be improved in my opinion.
It is an easy walk and suitable for all abilities.
There are plenty of signs describing the route and the industrial heritage.
Dog fouling and litter has been rare on our visits over the last three months.
A lot of different birds can be seen along the route, for example, Grey Herons, Mallards and Grey Wagtails.

Shaky bridge and beyond
Oct 2019 • Friends
For many years I enjoyed mountain biking in and around Antrim. The milk race trail was one of my favourite haunts - always including a jaunt over the infamous ‘shaky bridge’.

Now, coming back on foot I truly appreciate how lovely this area is. There is a calmness as you walk along. The bridge has been restored from the previous ‘shaky bridge’ but all the same, it’s still a lovely walk.

Get your boots on and get walking. 👌🏻

Beautiful and Quiet

Lovely walk, quiet and peaceful.
Not very well sign posted or not so well known as the castle gardens but still well worth the visit and walk

A lovely stroll

This is a peaceful and lovely part of Antrim. The walk meanders along river and through woodland. Depending on the time of year the smell of wild garlic is amazing. You can exercise both the body and soul on this trail!

Very nice
Aug 2018 • Solo
Took a walk for the first time in years & the area & river were stunning. Loads of flora & fauna. The information signage could do with a clean & the wheel was a bit overrun with foliage. There was a bit of rubbish lying in the off run streams & galled trees could do with being cut & removed. A days work would have the place looking terrific. Sad though, that massive housing scheme is being built along the edge of the river, will really spoil the area. Totally unwarranted, but councils eh.

Get close to nature

If you are in the Antrim area and would like some time alone with your thoughts, a tranquil river with only local wildlife to distract you, then the Mill Race is the place for you.

Nice Walk on a Nice Day

This is a really nice stroll in better weather, would be good if the local Council could repair the 5th bridge and a little more maintenence and litter picking would not go amiss.

A very picturesque walk.
May 2017 • Couples
This walk is one of the most picturesque walks in the area with a beautiful river and weir. Very popular with dog walkers but generally quiet with good parking facilities.
