Went in for lunch with family. Every table was dirty and not cleaned away and yes I do mean every table. It wasn't particularly busy either but looked like it hadn't been done all day. Asked very politely 3 times for a table to be cleared. Nothing! We eventually moved some stuff off of a table and sat down. Went to order at the bar. 4 staff chatting and laughing in the corner ignored me for about 5 mins. Then when one came over she had no manners and just grunted a "Yeah" at me. To top the experience off I ordered 3 fish and chips only to be told Quote "we haven't got no fish (no apology just statement. ) We just left and went elsewhere. I have always had good experiences in other Wetherspoons and always found the staff pleasant and welcoming. Definitely not in this one,

I am a regular drinker in Wetherspoons, their value for money is superb, I visited this one after visiting Rochester Xmas market, the service was awful, the staff need to realise that they can’t all huddle together at one point of the bar, when there are customers lining the whole bar, I will not be returning unless they employ a bar manager who can run a large pub correctly.

2 minutes after my review, I found that you CAN open the window. So good if you prefer fresh air to the rather fierce a/c.. but then you get the noise of the restaurant's a/c units! I'm guessing this will stop later tonight...

Also, I didn't mention the parking in Rochester. There are many small car parks dotted around, and they can be convenient for shoppers. But if you're staying for a couple of days, it can become a chore! Most of the Car Parks charge £3 for 5 hours, which is good value... but you have to top up EVERY 5 hours 😮 Not good if you're staying overnight! The Long-term Multi-story Car Park by the station is £6 for 5 hours OR MORE, which is more convenient, BUT the cycle starts again at 7am.... at least you can phone in your payment!

Great value drinks and the new app makes it so much easier to order drinks. Order from your table and the bar staff bring them over for you.
Unfortunately had the evening ruined by an extremely rude and derogatory female bouncer who isolated one individual from a group of 4 couples, all clearly in our late twenties for ID. When surprise was shown at this, the bouncer in question stated that the individual "should expect it". This is not the kind of professional service we expected from Wetherspoons and the management should be concerned that this is the first experience of the venue that respectable groups of people are faced with. This is all the more irritating considering the number of underage drinkers who had clearly been allowed in without question.

We called in for drinks in the garden after having lunch nearby and ordered some wine. The bartender disappeared out the back and reappeared a short while later. While waiting I noticed that the chiller cabinet for the wine was empty and presumably not working. The wine was opened and put in an ice bucket but when I checked the temperature of the wine it was room temperature.

Don't get me wrong I'm no wine connoisseur but white wine needs to be properly chilled. I asked the bartender if they had any cold bottles of the same type and was told no. I said that I couldn't drink that wine as it was and asked if they had any others that were chilled. I was told, in an abrupt manner, that I would have to have this one as it had been opened and the cap had been thrown away. I refused and again asked what alternatives they could offer. Another member of staff joined in and basically said that it wasn't a problem as the wine was in an ice bucket. In my opinion an ice bucket keeps wine chilled but would not have cooled down the wine on offer quickly enough.

I eventually got a different wine that was properly chilled but was made to feel like I had been unreasonable as the staff clearly were not happy. O.K. so the chiller was not working but all of this could have been avoided if they had checked if the wine would have been acceptable before opening it as it was obviously not at an ideal temperature. The stroppy attitude of the staff which made us feel uncomfortable didn't help either.

Had a night out for double celebrations on 2nd Sept, with family and friends. Good atmosphere in the pub, but bar service poor. Can only assume there not allowed to smile whilst working. Went to many other bars that night and all the other bar staff were working with a smile on their face.
