The St Peter's Village Tour offers four free award winning guided walks...

The St Peter's Village Tour offers four free award winning guided walks around the historic village and churchyard of St Peter's, Broadstairs in Kent. The Tours are arranged by a team of 110 volunteers.During the walking tour with your guide, you will meet many costumed characters from past centuries. You will see the flint built church and find out a little more about its long history. You will hear of conditions in the workhouse, the Newbolts breakfast concerts for hundreds of fashionable people, the tower used in the Napoleonic wars, famous (and infamous) local residents and our ancient seat of local government for the area. The tour is conducted in groups of around ten and covers less than a mile of flat walking, but does involve standing for a number of 5 minute presentations. It includes a break for tea or coffee (although no break on evening tours, or wet weather tours). You are advised to allow two and a half hours for your tour. In very wet weather we provide an Inclement weather Routine. Access for visitors with disabilities. Children are very welcome on our tour. We would however, suggest a minimum age of 10 years to fully appreciate the experience. At the end of the tour you are invited to contribute towards our costs which average £4 per adult. Here at the St Peter's Village Tour we appreciate any comments you may have with regard to any of our tours and our website. We are Supported by the Broadstairs and St. Peter's Town Council and we are member of the Broadstairs Tourism and Leisure Association.

Went with friends on this wonderfully organised tour around the village of St. Peter's. The guide, and the wonderful characters you experience on the tour gives you a great insite into the history of the village. We even stopped for a cup of tea half way around. Run by volunteers, it was just terrific. Would fully recommend! No charge just... More

The village tour is really interesting and run by volunteers who care about St Peters village and its history. The volunteers are dressed in period costume and take you through the history of the village with a lot of knowledge and humour. The tour has won awards for its excellent delivery. You need to book yourself on the tour which... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the St Peter's village tour which we did last year. See my review of this. Spurred on by that, we booked a few weeks ago the second world war graves tour. We met at 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon in July outside the main entrance to the lovely church of St.Peters. There was one other couple, and... More

Living locally to the village of St Peters, we always try to include the village tour when friends or family visit. It is run by volunteers who dress in the period they are depicting, bringing the past to life with anecdotes presented almost in a gossipy way. It is a fun way of learning about local history and meeting the... More

Dear Mjcatlin Thank you for your review of your visit on 27th June which we value as part of maintaining the quality of the tour. It is also very re-assuring to have such a positive impression from a local resident who has visited us more than once. Well worth the time. The energy and enthusiasm of the characters is as contagious as it is interesting. The tour involves walking but, time is provided for a refreshment break partway thru.

We have attended all the tours organised by this group and found them to be full of information, a great tour for the family and full of local history. A very inexpensive way to spend a few hours.

This is a tour you should not miss. So interesting and amusing too. Although I live locally I discovered a lot about the history and facts. This tour has also won awards. Don't take my word for it, come and see yourself. You will not be disappointed.

The St Peters village tour is a fantastic and interesting insight into the history of Broadstairs. It is done to a high standard with characters in costume adding to the atmosphere. It is informative but in a fun manner so even young children will enjoy it.
