If you’re thinking of heading to the beach we highly recommend Joss Bay near Broadstairs.Went yesterday, took us an hour in the car from Gravesend. We got there at 9.30 which was perfect to get a good spot on the beach and parking. Beach was full by 10.30. Beach was very clean, active lifeguards, people kept their distance and signs reminding people to keep 2 metres apart. Clean toilets, shop on the seafront selling buckets, food, ice cream etc, you can go crabbing and parking in the field opposite is £5 all day. If you park on the road without paying you will get a ticket. Big Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s and Asda within 15 minute drive and a little coop within 6 minutes drive but harder to find. Also don’t set up your spot near the front of the sea beyond the slope or you will lose your stuff! Tide starts coming in around 1pm and lots of people had to move very quickly! The key is if you see seaweed on the ground don’t set up there!😆
Only thing I would say is the disabled access isn’t very good as it’s a long slope to get to the beach. I have taken wheelchair users before but it can be a struggle on the slope.

My daughters and I had such a great day at Joss Bay beach.
The sand is lovely and the beach was clean for the most part.
There is great waves for surfers, but the water was a bit too rough for the kids to swim in unfortunately, but I’m sure that’s not all the time.
There’s a cafe and toilets on site as well as ample parking (£1 an hour, £5 for the day).

Small-ish beach this but on a busy day wasn't an issue.

Nice sandy beach, kept clean & tidy.

Eating & drinking is limited to the usual British seaside cuisine, so if you have any intention of eating healthy, bring your own!
I guess one day seaside resorts will wake up.

There is a reasonable amount of seaweed as others have mentioned but it's not an issue.

Toilets were pretty horrible, we probably hit it on a bad day but again - typical seaside facilities.

Don't pay for the council carpark next to the beach. There is a field which charges £5, just as close and perfect in all ways.

Don't pay for the council carpark near the beach.
The carpark literally opposite only charges £5 & is also right next to the beach.
You cannot miss it!

Very pretty sandy beach with lots of cliffs surrounding. People are all very friendly, both staff and people on beach. £20 for stand up paddle boarding with an option to do surfing as well though this beach is very calm and flat so won’t get many waves.

If you don’t like seaweed this place isn’t for you, quite a lot of seaweed along the beach and as you walk in to the water. Great place just for a day out with the family but if it’s a long journey to get here it’s probably not worth it since the beach isn’t amazingly clean.

Lovely sandy beach with nearby car parking toilets and a beach cafe. Chairs & windbreaks are available for hire and there is a lifeguard station.
Ideal for families but... beware the seagulls! There are lots of them and if anyone opens a picnic the word gets out and they flock round . Lady next to us had a sandwich grabbed from her hand and another family were harassed & the dad had to stand up & keeps guard.

We passed Joss Bay whilst walking a section of the Viking Coastal Trail between Margate and Broadstairs. The bay has a fine sandy beach with both a café and toilet facilities. There is a good sized (pay & display) car park nearby but we imagine that this gets very busy on a sunny day. There was an operating lifeguard station at the time of our visit (early afternoon on a weekday) and the beach had a good number of people enjoying the June sunshine. As if to enhance the seaside atmosphere, the picturesque North Foreland light house can be seen higher up the cliffs from the car park.

Great beach ruined by lots of tourists who don’t respect it. This is a lovely beach. However, the masses of North Kent and Londoners now visiting have resulted in lots of problems.

They seem unable to realise what the different flags are on the beach which results in them regularly swimming in the surfing zone by the surfers. Don’t respect any rules about no bbqs in the day time and have a tendency to leave all their litter and crap laying all over the place when they leave for local volunteers to clear up.

If you can’t respect this little corner of East Kent then please don’t come.

The beach is really nice, the only downfall were the surfers. We were constantly told to move away from them spoiling the kids fun. They should have their designated area to learn surfing. Overall it's a good sandy beach to visit. The beach has its own parking so don't park anywhere else. It's £5 something for the whole day!

Walking with friends from Broadstairs to Margate, we stopped at Joss Bay. Our friend reminisced about childhood family holidays there in years gone by. We were not impressed that the public lavatories were closed. We live in Eastbourne and all our facilities are open, so this was a great disappointment to us, hence the one star.

While staying in Broadstairs in February we decided to walk from Broadstairs to Botany Bay and seeing that the tide was out we decided to walk right along the sandy beach taking in Joss Bay. Being February, the beach was empty except for a few walkers. The beach was clean with tall chalk cliffs. At one end there are lots of rock pools. I am sure it is very popular in the summer months.
