Impressive remains of a 17th century fortified house with some interesting architectural features. Its history, and the story of its builder and owners, gives a fascinating insight into the complex and ever-shifting relations between the British and the Irish, or rather between their respective Lords...More

Wanted to find out more about the castle that had some connection to my family name O'Rourke. Fascinating History. Called in to the cafe first. Food was delicious. Tour guide was very friendly and informative and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed it.

My wife and I stopped in to have a late breakfast as our lunch. It was a beautiful, warm day, so we sat at one of the outdoor tables in as peaceful and pretty a setting as you can imagine, though the cafe interior looked...More

Its nice to see from the outside - but sure you can't walk around the ground so it is no better than looking at it through pictures.

Make sure to visit while exploring Leitrim county. Typical Irish attraction where you wouldn't expect it.

I was disappointed as the hours are restrictive. Beautiful ruins, great signs to explain its origin, the history of the place and the carnage thanks to its miserable owner. The gardeners home is gorgeous. Very well kept clean grounds. No bathrooms in sight.
