Wonderful Hiking experience in Slovenia /Fruili
Oct 2018 • Couples
We have just completed our 2nd hike with Hedonistic Hiking, after our initial Italian Lakes Hike in 2017. What a joy to be part of a fabulous food, wine and hiking experience in such a gorgeous part of the world with such a great group of hikers. Jackie’s seamless and professional leadership and Annabelle’s ability to create the best picnic lunches at times transported by Will in his backpack up steep mountains enabled us to have a very special hiking experience. Jackie’s sharing of her impressive knowledge of the history of Slovenia particularly relating to the World Wars and her lunch time book readings gave us a real sense of the incredible history of Slovenia. We were privileged to enjoy beautiful foods and wines of the local area daily with a couple of very special degustation experiences. Thank you Jackie for your wonderful support and encouragement for us throughout some often challenging hiking. Conquering the summit of Mt Matajur on a beautiful, clear day was an awesome and exhilarating highlight. We look forward to another one of your wonderful food, wine and hiking experiences in 2019.

Hedonistic Hiking lived up to their name, delivering the perfect mix of hiking, local experiences and excellent food and wine.
Jackie and Mick are excellent guides, and the tour is run with professionalism and polish.
Being truffle season in Piemonte, we took full advantage of this amazing delicacy!
Highly recommended! Go!

Austria and Dolomites
Jul 2017 • Friends
I joined Hedonistic Hiking's first offering of their Austria and Dolomites walking holiday in July 2017. The hike, starting in Innsbruck, Austria and finishing in Bolzano, Italy was so capably supported by Mick and Iole, was fun from start to finish. A great group of hikers together with the great places we visited, the wonderful cuisine and wines selected by Iole, and the hotels, culminating in our stay at the luxurious hotel Bad Moos near Sesto, Italy, was just an adventure not to be missed. The hiking on this trip took me places I never imaged I would have the privilege of experiencing. From the alpine pastures of the Holhe Salve mountain in the Austrian Tyrol, to the unbelievable views after climbing up in the Hohne Tauern National Park and then culminating in this amazing hike in the heart of the Sesto Dolomites peaks. As Jackie and Mick know, I have done many hikes with them, but this final hike was one of the most uplifting experiences of my many hiking adventures. Thank you Mick and Iole and look forward to another Hedonistic Hike next year!

Fabulous tour - highly recommended!!

I am just home from the Jewels of Piemonte trip with Jackie and Cinzia and cannot say enough positives about the trip. The whole tour is seamlessly organised with many individual differences catered for effortlessly. I broke my little toe a few weeks before the trip and was wondering if I'd even be able to go. However, with quick and practical support from Jackie, before and during the trip, I was able to complete and enjoy most of the hikes. The one major one I didn't feel up to was the climb up the mountain on Day 4 but I stayed with Cinzia to help (a bit!) prepare the picnic lunch. This became one of tge highlights of the trip for me. We then hiked up for half an hour to meet the group for lunch beside Lake Fiorenza. Cinzia carried the food and wine in a pack, fording creeks and negotiating steep mountain paths - amazing! If you're thinking picnic lunch in a backpack = breadrolls with ham and cheese etc, think again! She made the most delicious cous cous salad, fresh meats, cheeses, dessert etc etc - a feast. You rock, Cinzia!
The walks were spectacular - ranging from hiking in the moutainous areas to walking through the vineyards, hazelnut groves and lovely little towns.
The two hotels we stayed in were great and it was nice to have only 2 bases so that we weren't always packing and unpacking.
The food and wine were delicious: some absolutely stunning dishes, wines and locations. Ristorante Bovia would have to be the pick for me - oh wait, what about the final night in the Michelin starred restaurant in the Castello or the one in Saluzzo near the Abbey.
Perhaps you are reading this and feeling my enthusiasm for this trip - I hope so, as it was terrific.
Thank you Jackie and Cinzia, you made it all seem easy but the background research, organisation and your tour experience shone through.

We just completed our second HH hike, our first being the Italian Alps two years ago. Again, it was fantastic! The hikes were gorgeous, there was plenty of history, wine, food and a lovely group of people with which to enjoy it all. Mick and Tansy thought of everything, and their wonderful, outgoing personalities and love of nature and people made this another trip to remember for years and years! We'll be seeing you again soon!

Just finished our first trip (France/Italy) with HH. The experience was deeply rewarding on many levels including the exposure to stunning mountain scenery, brilliant wildflowers, and much more - including the chance to try the best of the local food and wine, and a wonderful introduction to the culture and history of the local regions of France and Italy. Jackie is enormously patient and good humoured as well as deeply knowledgeable about history and culture. The organisational aspects of the trip were completely seamless for us but we were conscious of all the little things which had been done behind the scenes to make it easy for us - we paid for nothing extra including drinks in local bars and cafes. Our local guide Iole prepared and transported our glorious lunches like a Sherpa high into the mountains. Jackie read moving extracts from a book at stunning locations in the mountains. I'm sure we will be back for another trip.

I've just returned home from the Slovenia/Fruili hike and it exceeded my expectations plus some. Mick and Tansy were fabulous, so helpful and approachable and everything was organised down to the second. The food and wine was fabulous and the hiking was sensational, sometimes challenging and sometimes relaxing. The whole experience was a 10 and I'm looking forward to organising my next hike.

Our 4th with this company (3 in Italy and one in Australia). This Lucca, Volterra Elba trip was magnificent with fantastic company, excellent food and wine and wonderful hikes.
We had wonderful weather and loved all 8 days.
We leave each trip with a vague plan to book the next one! Thanks to Jackie and Annabel!

Piemonte in autumn
Oct 2016 • Couples
We have just had our first trip with Hedonistic Hiking in the Piemonte region of Italy. We loved exploring this beautiful area, away from the main tourist traps. The scenery was stunning, the hotels very comfortable with superb breakfasts and the hiking was so enjoyable ( and necessary to burn off a few of the calories!) We particularly loved Chinzia's picnic lunches, with her informative and passionate descriptions and explanations of the local cheeses, bread, cold meats, wine etc. We also loved the evening meals, the menus and wines being chosen by Chinzia so nothing was ever repetitive. Jackie ( tour guide and owner) had organised a fabulous program and her enthusiasm was infectious. We can't wait to do another Hedonistic Hiking trip, it is just such a dilemma which one to choose!

Fantastic walking, fantastic food, fantastic wine and fantastic company
Jun 2016 • Couples
We had our first foray into Hedonistic Hiking last year when we did the Italian Lakes walking tour. It was fantastic! This year we did the inaugural France/Italy walking tour, it was equally as fantastic if not even more fantastic. The walks were brilliant, very challenging but worth it for amazing views and amazing picnics. Hotels were perfect as were all the dinners at great restaurants. Add to this entertaining company and you have all the elements of a fantastic holiday. However there is more with seamless organisation by the walking hosts - Jackie, Mick and the rest of the Hedonistic Hiking team. Thanks Jackie, Mick and the rest of the crew for a really great holiday.
