My wife and I visit Tuscany as often as possible. We have had many great experiences in our visits but our visit to Cordella was truly outstanding. For our most recent trip we wanted to bring home some outstanding wines and look for art to bring home as a daily reminder of our love of Tuscany. We accomplished both in our visit to Cordella.

Wine can be a little overwhelming in Italy. We visited a number of wineries in Tuscany almost all offering excellent wines. The wine we had at Cordella was simply amazing. The Rosso di Montalcino was outstanding and the Brunello was to die for. Put this together with an incredible meal provided by Aldo and it was an event to always remember.

Our tour with Maddalena was so much fun and informative. We planned on a visit of a couple of hours but ended up spending the day learning about the wines of Cordella. She has an amazing story and it is so impressive to see the growth of this winery over such a short period of time. Her passion and warmth made the visit so enjoyable.

We were also lucky that Cordella had an exhibit of art by Silvio Rugolo which my wife and I fell in love with. We had prints shipped including a few of the harvest time at Cordella. Thank you Aldo and Maddalena for such a wonderful experience. We will be in touch for more wine and will visit again on our next trip. Continued Success!

Hired a car service from Florence to spend the day poking around Montalcino, Piensa and Motepulciano. The service HireinItaly, arranged for lunch and a winery tour for us. Greeted by Aldo and Maddelna, we enjoyed an hour tour of the winery, learning about the history of the winery and the Brunello wine creation. Maddelena is a wonderful host! After our tour, we were invited to dine in the beautiful stone cottage! Aldo made the MOST FANTASTIC lunch I have ever had! Risotto with a Brunello reduction sauce, a desert with Brunello reduction sauce, and we sampled each and every wine Cordella has to offer! 2 hours for lunch while viewing the beautiful countryside and chatting with Aldo was the BEST way to spend our day! Maddelena is busy expanding her home to offer rooms for rent, expanding her storage area and adding a pool and roof-top party area! We are so in love with this couple and their work, and their Brunello di Montalcino is DIVINE! Ordered wine to take home. Magical day, Magical people, Magical wine! Grazie Mille Aldo and Maddelena!

We visited Cordella in October 2014 as part of a five week trip to Italy. We found Cordella by chance and were so happy that we did. We were invited to join a private tour that was to start shortly and stayed for lunch. Maddalena is an amazing woman with an amazing story! She is an excellent wine maker with some of the best Brunello I have ever tasted! The entire family is very close and very warm and friendly. Her mother had made some clams and spaghetti for her and brought it down while we were there. I was invited to try the dish and I had all I could do not to take off running with the rest of the pot! Aldo cooked lunch for us and we were invited back to dinner. Aldo is a professional chef and prepared some of the best dishes for us that we had while on our trip. The family sat with us at dinner. Aldo drank the grappa with my husband after dinner. Orlando (Papa) visited with us while Maddelana translated. (She speaks perfect english!) Maddelana's Grappa and Olive Oil were wonderful, too. We carried that away and purchased the Brunello to ship home including a case of her 100 pt. Brunello that was just released in January. I received a text message from my office last week that indeed the case that I prepaid to be shipped in January was received and is sitting in my office. We LOVE these people! I will be contacting Maddelana in the near future for more wine and olive oil and an invitation to visit the U.S. A shout out to my favorite dog, Savino! Thank you Maddelana & Aldo for a most treasured day Italy! We will be back!

What a treat! We had a private tour of the vineyard, followed by a phenomenal 3 course lunch, which was probably the best meal we had during our 3 week visit to Italy and France. The wine is divine. So be sure you come for lunch. This vineyard is small, but you get a private and intimate look into life in Tuscany. Unfortunately, Maddelena was not there during our visit, but we really enjoyed meeting her father and boyfriend (the fabulous cook). If you don't speak Italian, make sure that Maddelena is there. What a treat, nonetheless.

We chanced upon the vineyard by luck.

The host Maddelena was great! She gave us a detailed tour & explanation of the vineyard & production history of Cordella wines.

They are in the mid of building a swimming pool overlooking the farm, with rooms & suites available for rent as well. The scenary was beautiful & relaxing, we can even have a outdoor BBQ which will be wonder during winter or autumn.

The food was great & after tasting their wines, other wines were not close to comparison.

Definitely worth a visit!

We tasted a lot of wine on this trip, but our stop here made us realize how great the wine can be here. Their natural and organic methods really pay off in their wines which we loved so much that we shipped a case home. Maddalena and Aldo were so fun to spend time with Also also prepared an amazing lunch for us which was perfectly paired with the wines--all served in such a beautiful setting with great views of the countryside. Highly recommend a visit!

Cantina Cordella was, for us, the ultimate Tuscan, food and wine experience!!! Maddalena and Aldo are the most fabulous hosts! From start to finish, we were made to feel so welcome and were given so much information about every wine we had and every amazing dish we were presented with. We absolutely loved their beautiful Brunellos and were delighted to be able to ship some back to Ireland!! We have already been spreading the word over here!!!

Everything that has been said positively about this winery is correct. Maddalena is a wonderful host and is enthusiastic, open, personal and inspiring in her description of their business.

We left after an incredible dinner at the only table in the house overlooking Montalcino on the opposite hill. I have never had such a lovely meal experience, having expected nothing but a few plates with some different wines, that I can recall. We ate aperitivo of vegetables, ricotta, olive oil, buschette with tartufo, risotto nero and pasta with pecorino di piensa, made by hand. Followed by dessert and wonderful grappa and coffee, we left wondering what had hit us.

This is their business but we felt as if we had been invited in to their home.

Go and visit them - you will not be disappointed.

This was our favorite part of our trip to Tuscany. Took a little bit of doing getting there due to some roads that were closed. You really know that you are going somewhere not everyone gets to when you take the unpaved road to get to the winery...and keep taking it.

Go past a cute house and continue on and you'll reach the winery, tasting room, and the soon to be guest house and pool. The winery is gorgeous, the wine is excellent, but honestly the really fantastic part of the experience is the people (and that is saying something considering how excellent the wine is).

Maddalena is an excellent host and I fully recommend booking ahead so you can get the full tour of the property and have a meal. We loved have lunch here and then having the tour of the winery and learning all about the property and how she began tending the vineyard. There really isn't any way this could be any more of a family run vineyard. Considering we met most of the family and the family dog while here. We also got to hear all about the future plans to add to the estate and are looking forward to being able to return in the future and stay on the property.

Thank you again for having us, and especially for letting us hang around and bother you all afternoon! We stuck around watching them work, plan, and stealing some of the cookies Maddalena's mother brought for her. They are so welcoming and fun that I had to remind my wife that we really ought to be going at some point or I think she would have invited herself back to their house for dinner as well.

I think the really telling part is that not are they the type that make you want to stay but they are so welcoming that you feel comfortable doing it. A truly small family run winery experience like everyone talks about but few get to experience. Worth the trip and so much more. Arrange a trip with a guide, rent a car, or walk if you have to.
