We had a great lunch and visit with Giacomo at Il Cocco. This is a small family run Montalcino producer that makes really nice wines at an excellent value. Their 2016 Brunello is very good ! We also enjoyed our lunch at their farmhouse and their authentic Tuscan cuisine. Don't miss a visit if your in Montalcino.

We were a big group of friends (13 adults) with two toddlers (1 and 1,5 yo). We had a super interesting wine tasting and winery visit with the owner Giacomo. He was really great in how he presented the wines and told about the estate and wine making in Montalcino. He was happy to answer our questions and everyone in our group agreed that this was the most personal and by far best winery/vineyard visit anyone had had! Even with the toddlers everything went really well - as the place is very compact in size it was easy to pop out to the playground / yard with the kids when they grew tired of sitting still - and then return once they could settle again. And the wine - it is GOOD! We all ordered some home. I also strongly recommend to have lunch in their lovely restaurant. Simple and delicious food and great opportunity to enjoy bit more of your favourite wine from the tasting. Just remember to book in advance especially with bigger group! You will also love the scenery.

One of the more unique wine tours we’ve had! Owner and winemaker Giacomo shared his process, experimentation, vision and experience in running a small-batch wine business in the Montalcino region. The tasting was cleverly designed to be educational, starting with a skin contact rose wine, the most recent Brunello, a sampling straight from the steel tank, and ending with homemade Grappa and our family got a surprise tasting of the Vino Paccito that was very smooth. Highly recommended to start with the lunch at their small restaurant - homely with great service and their 2016 Brunello hit very charming spice notes for us. A must-do in Montalcino!

We had an absolute amazing wine tasting experience at this small farm. Giacomo is not only an excellent host, but he is also very passionate about his grapes and wines. He will let you get to know the wines, and let yourself decide if you want to buy. He will not try to pressure you.

In the tour we tasted 4 completely different wines, but were all very tasteful. We saw the vinyards and also the cellar and te small factory.

We strongly recommend this winetour to everyone who loves wine.

Podere Il Cocco was our favorite vineyard stop. We have been to Italy many times but learned more about wine making from Giamcomo than anyone else. Giamcomo and his brothers were so down to earth and made us feel so welcome in their quaint winery. We were not rushed during the wine tasting part of the tour but instead we were told interesting stories as each glass was poured and sampled.

The Il Cocco Brunello wines are excellent and we brought many bottles home with us. I recently placed a large order from Giamcomo and our shipment was to our house in CT in eight days. I look forward to going to visit this special place again.

We stopped for a lovely lunch with their wine and then spent time with Giacomo in the tasting room as he explained his approach to making wine. We then tasted a few of his "experiments" as well as the newest brunello from the tank. We then proceeded to a full tasting of their wines with a lesson in grappa tasting. I've been to many wineries, but in Italy one finds producers who are extremely passionate about the product they produce. Giacomo is truly a passionate producer who makes wonderful wines. I only wished I had had more time to learn from him. Luckily my case of "memories" arrived this week and I can savor the visit again and again.

My family and I had the most wonderful experience when we visted Il Cocco. The vinyard is set in the most beautiful surrounds with lovely views in all directions. We started the visit with a delicious lunch (as a family we voted it the best meal we had on our trip which included a number of amazing restaurants). There was a choice of starters, primi and secondi courses so between the four of us we tried a variety of dishes all of which were superb (with a special mention for the Wild Boar Stew!). Giacomo then gave us a tasting of the various wines all of which we enjoyed and have ordered to be delivered. Giacomo is an excellent speaker and is extremely knowledgeable about wines in general and his in particular so we spent a very informative couple of hours in his company. I absolutely recommend a visit to Il Cocco to include lunch - it is an unforgettable experience!

I celebrated my 60th birthday in 2017 with a three week trip to Italy which included a visit to Podere II Cocco. It was a true Tuscan wine and food experience with Giacomo and his family doing their part to make it one of my trip highlights. With that visit we had a case of their wine delivered back to the USA and each bottle we opened has reminded us of their passionate labors. We want to revisit in the future so in the meantime we ordered a second case of their wines and it arrived today! Salute!!!

We visited Giacomo and his crew five years ago and have stayed in touch because our visit was so personal and focused on our interests. This week, while we cannot see each other, we were happy to order a case of their excellent wines, which were well priced and arrived quickly. While we are enjoying the wines this summer we will be thinking about Giacomo, his family and the beautiful property at Il Cocco.

We had another trip planned to Italy with family who had never been to Italy. A trip to Podere Il Cocco was a must so they could experience a family who runs their winery, farm, restaurant and inn with a passion that represents the best of Italy. Our trip is postponed but we were able to order the wonderful 2015 Brunello, Brandy and Rosso. We will enjoy this until we can once again be at the source with Giacomo, his brothers and sister.
