This was one of THE MOST magical experiences of our Tuscan experience! Laura made it so memorable by creating a special and personalized wine tasting for us. She spent so much time explaining the different wines and also taking us through the vineyards which made it all the more interesting. It was certainly one of the best vineyards we visited in the Tuscan countryside. We still look back on it with such fondness and we can't wait to go back!

First stop of the day at our long awaited visit to Il Palazzone. Laura was a fantastic host detailing the history of the property and offering a tasting of their wonderful Brunello and non-vintage Sangiovese Grosso wine.
A real treat to visit the property of one of our favorite Brunello wines. Casual, Friendly and informative. Wonderful!’n

Nestled into the hills just outside of Montalcino, the small wine estate of Il Palazzone enjoys spectacular views over the mountains towards the distant sea. The beautifully restored winery is a gem, the traditional stone walled building conceals a contemporary "floating" ceiling that hovers above the cellar. Laura and Marco, who run the vineyard, are a delightful couple and more than happy to share their considerable knowledge. Their passion for this winery and the quality of the wines produced, is more than evident. We were warmly welcomed by Laura and enjoyed her tour and her sense of humour. The tastings were well presented and informative, samples generous and the wines first class. We are now eagerly awaiting their arrival. This is a wonderful vineyard with great wines, don't miss out. Call or e mail Laura to book your visit.

My husband and I met with Laura while traveling through Italy on our honeymoon in May. Laura gave us a great tour and history of the land. We tasted a few Brunellos which were excellent. I'm sure we will be contacting Laura in the future to ship more Brunello back to the US. I would highly recommend going here for a visit as it was very welcoming and the views from the vineyards are gorgeous!

This winery is a hidden gem! Our bus was pretty big and made it all the way to the winery and turned around. Quite off the beaten path. But this small production building and cellar were amazing. Laura and her crew were great! This was one of my top 3 places I visited in the area.

Our visit to this winery stood out from others. Not only was the wine superb, the tasting experience was thoughtful and informative. Laura, the state manager, is knowledgeable and gave us an interesting history of the area and its recent growth. She talked about the challenges of bringing grapes to harvest - from plantings through the challenges of weather and wild boars. It was a delightful and valuable experience

My wife and I managed to book a tasting in Il Palazzone in a short notice. We had no idea how lucky we were!
Esther and Laura met us at this beautiful winery with a gorgeous view of Tuscany. Really gorgeous, in a good day you can see all the way to Siena!
They were super friendly, greeted us warmly and Esther started to show us the property and tell us about the history of Brunello in Montalcino.
Esther is not only a true wine expert but also incredibly passionate about her job. She spoke impeccable English, excellent Spanish and even very decent Portuguese!
She knows a lot about wine, not only Italian but from all over the world. Still, she made sure we felt comfortable asking very basic questions, always giving thorough explanations about history, culture, technology and the business of wine.
When we got to the tasting the tour really proved to be something special. Esther made a real effort preparing each glass, helping us decide what to taste and even teaching us how to experience each wine and tell the difference between different "annatas".
Tasting a 1997 Brunello Riserva is not something I do every day, so the delicious wine didn't hurt :-)
I highly recommend this guided tasting/tour with Esther to anyone visiting Montalcino, regardless of your knowledge of wine, she will make sure everyone has a truly special experience.

We were in for only a few days and wrote an email to Laura in hopes of being able to do a winery tour on such short notice.. Her response was very quick and she gladly welcomed us. Our tour guide was Ester and we were delighted with our tour. I learned more about wines in this tour than in the others combined! A lot less commercialized which was nice and you can tell they really care about their product. It was a great experience and again very thankful for their generosity and insight :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you Esther! While the drive to get to Il Palazzone might be bumpy, a little steep and give you the feeling you took a wrong turn, continue on because it is a nice getaway from the larger wineries in town. Esther really took the time to give us the fantastic history of the region, share true wine tasting techniques, insights regarding Brunello and other wines from the region. She made us feel very special, thank you. Not to mention, the wine is great and the small facility is 1st Class.

Esther gave a well-informed introduction to Brunello wines and the history of the Montalcino wine region. We arranged the wine tasting ahead of our visit (recommended; specifically if you visit on a weekend) and its recommended that you give yourself plenty of time to arrive a bit early as many of the wineyards are a bit hidden and not always clearly signed from the main roads. Esther provided a sample testing of both the 2009 and 2010 Brunello, which provided a good comparison between an average (2009) and a super (2010) wine year for comparison. We would recommend the place to other folks visiting the region.
