Altesino is a leader in various, important innovations in the production of Sangiovese from Montalcino, causing it to stand out and become a reference point for the entire territory.

Some of the positive contributions putting Montalcino on the world map are: the introduction of the "Cru" (Montosoli) concept in 1975, the production in '77 of the first Grappa from a winery and the first Futures (purchasing wine before its release) for Brunello 1985.

We organize wine tastings and the visit are made under appointment preferably.

Private tour and wine tasting was set up by our B&B, and it was great. Tour was interesting, and we learned a lot about Super Tuscans and Brunello. Tasting included a light lunch which was also tasty. Their 2011 Brunello is a nice wine and is considerably less expensive at the winery (27 euros/bottle) than at Montalcino wine stores (between... We went here based on recomendation of our driver. Location is one of the best we saw so far. We didn't have reservation so we had to wait for a short wine tasting. Staff was so nice and pleasant. Wines were great! One of the best we tried in the area.

Eight friends reserved a private tour w lunch and we were all very pleased. Our gracious hostess was very knowledgeable and patiently answered our many questions. The tour of the beautiful vineyard and the impressive winery took about an hour, but the best part was the wine tasting. We sampled six different wines accompanied by a generous lunch of bruschetta,... More

We called ahead and my husband & I were given a private tour and tasting. We learned so much about Altesino's process for making beautiful Brunello & Rosso. Our guide was a sommelier who was raised in Montalcino and spoke English well. She was friendly & welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was a highlight of our trip.

I had a private wine tasting with a gorgeous view over the vineyards and of Montalcino in the distance. This vineyard is about 10-12 minutes from Montalcino. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Tasted a Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and a super tuscan. All very nice wines! They prefer if you call ahead to make a reservation as there are... More

More commercialized than other smaller wineries in the area. Enjoyed the wine and food pairing. Lot's of food for just two people.

This was the first winery we visited during our trip to Montalcino and also our favorite. Our guide was very helpful and we found the tour interesting and detailed but not rushed (I sometimes feel that wineries are just trying to shepherd you into the tasting as quickly as possible). The tasting was fantastic and the prices are super reasonable... More

This is a lovely winery near Montalcino. Our private tour, led by Christina, taught us a great deal about Montalcino's flagship wine, Brunello, and ended with a relaxed tasting, accompanied by generous plates of salumi & cheeses. Christina was a gracious host and we got a great exposure to Italian winemaking. A fun and relaxing way to get off the... More

As one can imagine, wineries abound in Tuscany. How do you pick? Rest assured that your experience at Altesino will be incredible. The views, the wines, the people. ALL OUTSTANDING! We had a very personal tour, personal tastings and delicious foods. Loved the wines so much that a case has been purchased! If you knew my husband, you would understand... More

Kristina was a wonderful guide! Very knowledgable about the history of the winery as well as the process. We enjoyed getting to know her during our tasting. We are looking forward to enjoying the wine we shipped home from Altesino.
