BEAUTIFUL GARDENS

The Villa Carlotta is very beautiful with lots of flowers and foliage. The walk around them is wonderful and the villa itself is stunning.

We visited these wonderful gardens on a Three Lakes, day coach tour so unfortunately were only able to have about an hour here. The entrance fee of euros 7 is very reasonable and near the lake is a cafe and restaurant and some reasonable toilets. These gardens are a joy to walk round and there are colourful border displays which... More

Pretty Villa with lovely views A nice morning spent at the villa and gardens. Not many of the colourful flowers/plants were in bloom but still a pleasant visit.

A lovely house and garden with extensive beds and areas. Over about 4 acres along the lake side with stunning views across the lake. The house has rooms on three levels with a lovely small lift to travel up to the other floors. There are also spirals stairs around the lift. Each room is dedicated to areas of use. The... More

There are so many botanical gardens around Lake Como that you are really spoilt for choice! We certainly enjoyed Villa Carlotta with its lakeside position, variety of gardens and species, and lots of paths and terraces to walk round. It also affords some great views across the lake towards Bellagio.

We visited on a rather cool but sunny day and found the gardens very beautiful. We would not recommend visiting on a very hot day as the uphill walks in the gardens and stairs can be quite tiring! The parking can be tricky so it's best to go early or late afternoon. There is a nice gift shop at the... More

The villa and gardens are set on the main lake road but once you're inside the world outside seems a long way away. The villa has many interesting rooms and features and is best visited by talking the old style lift to the top floor and walking down. The gardens are well maintained and contain many species in various settings.

The Villa Carlotta on the side of Lake Como is well worth a visit - especially to an avid gardener. Whether the main interest lies in the amazing interior and history or the botanical garden this place offers something for all. The views of the lake from parts of the garden are spectacular and a draw for the photographer. This... More
