There is a good reason why this place has been used for movie settings, the views the are incredible all around you! We took the boat ride into the Villa, it's a couple of minutes but it gives you a close up view as come into the Villa from Lake Como. The gardens are just incredible, it is quite a... More

Popular for weddings and James Bond movie - Casino Royale, Villa Balbianiello's gardens are just breathtaking! We took the guided visit of the villa which showcased beautiful style choices, panoramic views, and a beautiful art collection that the last owner (Guido Monzino) had purchased and memorabilia from his expeditions to the North Pole and Everest. If you are pressed by... More

The villa was very pretty, especially approached by the 7.5-euro water taxi. We do not recommend the guided tour. We had a strange tour guide who would say one sentence, stop and look at everyone, then say another sentence, stop and look at everyone, etc. It was very uncomfortable and quiet, while usually on tours, there are lots of questions... A lovely walk from town around to the peninsula (you can also do it by water-taxi) Villa del Balbianello is a beautiful home with an inspiring story and, ultimately, a piquant story of its last own who died alone (after a life of incredible adventures and fervent collecting of indigenous arts.) Our guide was very captivating as she led us... More

We went there from Como by boat. You get off in Lenno, from which it's a 5 min walk around the bay to get to a point where two paths start: one is an over 1 km walk through the forest, the other one is a 2 km panoramic one. (We took the shorter one, it's a bit steep at... More

The grounds of the villa are absolutely stunning. I am so glad that we decided to visit during our day around Lake Como!

Once we climbed up the path leading up to the site (the worst part of the visit), we had a very enjoyable time taking an English tour and learning about the history of the villa and it's most recent owner. If you're going to visit, go on the villa tour. Seeing the gardens would not be enough.

This Villa is the most attractive and famous at lake Como. You can reach this Villa with walk - but you should find out the opening times, before you plan to arrive! Also you have the possibility to reach the villa with small boats. If you are there, do not miss to guide inside the Villa - it worth every... More

We are gardening fanatics at home and while Villa Carlotta arguably has the larger garden the Villa itself is getting a bit shabby now and this is where Balbianello shines with the total package of an amazing immaculate house/villa with intriguing history and ownership and of course the view to die for. The garden is a show piece that compliments... More
