An interesting morning or afternoon outing, and a pleasant change from the boring touristy towns around Lake Como. Take a special boat to the Balbaniello boat, which dicks at this island villa. It's a beautiful location and a fascinating villa in terms of history and...More

Very much enjoyed our hour long tour of Villa Balbianello. Tour guide did a great job and it was fun to see where scenes were filmed for Star Wars and Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. Highly recommended if you enjoy history, art, architecture, gardens, and...More

The villa is so beautiful and magical. The small little details makes you go into the history of the place. The wisteria and vines, the statues, the enormous tree shaped into an umbrella, the view of the lake: magnificent! I did the tour of the...More

We visited the gardens, which were beautiful and well worth the visit. We didn't take part in the tour of the house, but the video showing Count Guido Monzino's life as an explorer was fascinating to watch.

This place is just perfect! The views are unbelievable. I recommend to take a guide, because it's very interesting not just to admire the views of the villa and the lake, but to know also history of the villa's owner Guido Monzino, who was a...More

If you make the effort to visit the villa - then pay the extra to tour the villa as well as the gardens. The villa is extraordinary - 90%+ left as it was bequeathed by the owner to the FAI/National Trust of Italy. Its discounted...More

Hi. I am planning to take the ferry to Lenno and would like to take the shuttle boat to the villa. Is the shuttle boat service also from the ferry dock that we come into Lenno? Or do you have to walk to a seperate place to take the shuttle? If so how far is it from the main ferry dock? Thanks in advance

No, not at the ferry pier. I think you need to walk along the whole of the promenade and then to the lido, but it's not far - 10 minutes.

Another option is to book a boat tour that includes a guided tour of the villa. We were able to do that from Varenna.

HI! How is the weather now in Lake Como like? Travelling there next week and some recent photos show that people are wearing heavy scarves and jackets. Is it still cold?
