The grounds of the villa and the views from the peninsula where it is located are spectacular. The gardens are gorgeous and well worth a lengthy visit. We did not go on a tour of the interior of the villa, but others recommended it highly. You can enter the garden via a hike from the town of Tremezzina or a... More

We purchased an all day ferry pass at Bellagio to traverse the towns around the lake. It took us a while to work out the ferry timetable but once we got the hang of it, we were jetting around that lake like superstars! Getting to this villa took a bit of patience because not all ferries docked at Lenno where... More

This lovely place is an absolute must-see when looking round Lake Como. The location alone is picture perfect, The gardens are wonderful, the care and planning of them is outstanding, great attention to colour and detail everywhere. We very much enjoyed our informative tour of the villa and were moved by the story of the owner who spent so much... More

We chose to visit the Villa Del Balbanielo by boat which was amazing! The gardens are so nicely kept and the villa itself with its story is very interesting. We had a great English guided tour which lasted approx 50 minutes and we walked through the house experiencing all its glory and well kept character. We very much enjoyed this... More

We visited Villa del Balbianello in August of 2016. This was visiting a peace of heaven. The grounds are outstanding lush greenery and flowers are all over.. Well manicured with views that can not be beat. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to tour the inside and outside you will not be disappointed. When I posted pictures from... More

The location is amazing. You can reach the villa with a 20-30 minutes walk or on a boat (which is probably the more suggestive choice). The entrance is quite expensive, but the villa is worth every single penny!..The gardens are quite small, but well maintained, and the villa will surprise you. The former owner was an explorer and you can... More

We had a private boat to take us to this villa (part of the Riviera Travel excursion) and what a view from the lake - beautiful. The immaculate gardens are well cared for - they even manage to make ivy look attractive, and everywhere you look there is a wow factor - I couldn't stop taking photos. But beware that... More

As we were staying in Varenna,we took the traghetto to Lenno (€4.60). From the ferry wharf it is quite a long with some uphill parts to the villa. Good shoes will make for a more comfortable walk on the cobble stoned path. Entrance to the villa and grounds is €17 which includes a guided tour inside (the only way to... More

If you visit Lake Como you must make time to come here. It is owned by FAI which is the Italian equivalent of England's National Trust. If you are a NT member you will get a discount. The tour of the house is quite rapid but worth it. There are collections of Pre-Columban art and of Inuit artifacts as well... More
