    great spot
A beautiful spot in Rhodes is along the harbor, where you can find many kiosks offering day trips. There is also a lovely fountain in the area. It's a great place to visit and enjoy the surroundings.

    A wonderful experience
Simply walking around the harbour seeing the ancient and modern together is an experience in itself. We were there when a local brass band was playing in the rotunda which added to the experience. Many and varied boat trips go from the harbour but be warned. Check very carefully before you sign up for one. Prices and conditions vary.

    Harbour fort
The fort is positioned to give maximum defence of the harbour, and is a large structure under going renovation. You can only walk around a little bit due to the sea being on the other sides. It is on the end of a nice walk with a lovely cooling breeze.

    A must visit.
Catch the sunrise here. Mandraki Harbour is the place to visit if you fancy gawping at some fabulous executive boats or taking in the waterfront area facing Nea Agora. It’s a nice stroll with great views out to sea. There are some decent places for a coffee or something to eat. It also provides a pretty backdrop for runners in the Rhodes marathon/half marathon/10k/5k which was on when I visited. If you fancy a dawn bit of exercise or stretching, plonk your mat down at the end or the quay on the castle side. Just perfect.

    Harbor with Ships
Here is the sea and the ships, a mix of ferries, cruise ships and some yachts. You will see stone walls, towers and little old windmills. Take a photo of the inevitable cruise ships and then wander into the old town.

Rhodes is truly beautiful, very easy to get lost - actually we did for an hour or so.
But it didn’t matter as the building’s/ruins are fascinating.
What ruins the place is the restaurant staff who try to pull you in to eat their cheap food or to buy a 2 pint drink from a ‘boot shape’ glass.
We stayed in the old town in a magical house (Athina boutique house) which could not praise enough.
I’m still glad I went, but once is enough.
I’d say the island now caters for the cruise ships that arrive everyday with their big fat wallets.
Be careful of the ladies that will try and wrap a cheap bracelet around your wrist then charge you €10.

Mandraki Harbor has been a port since ancient times. The Knights of Rhodes moored their fleet in this harbor.

Here once stood the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. However, the Colossus has been completely destroyed. Today, the statues of two deers named Elefos and Elafina are standing where once stood the feet of the Colossus.

By the city walls facing seawards, there is the castle of Saint Nicholaos. This castle operates as a lighthouse.

Today, Mandraki Harbour is a modern marina for yachts visiting Rhodes. During summer, there are ships departing every day to Lindos, Symi, and the neighboring islands.

When you take a trip, you never know what particular attraction will overwhelm you. That’s what happened to us at Mandraki Harbour. There were 2 or 3 cruise ships in port and hundreds (and probably thousands) of cruisers were strolling about Rhodes Town.
We, on the other hand, were in Rhodes for 4 days and had plenty of time. We sat on a bench on Mandraki harbour for a full 2 hours and just watched the tourists, the hawkers, the boats, their skippers, and the sales people who kept trying to get us get us on to one of their boats.
It was all very idyllic, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit to Rhodes.

An interesting harbour to look around. Not much shelter from the scorching sun, but the old town has sheltered spots. A huge cruise liner came in during our visit and suddenly the prices went up!

A big harbour which is nice to walk around.
You can walk all around the harbour taking in all the boats big and small. There are plenty of stalls offering boat trips around the island or just to go fishing on.
It's down by the old city with bars, restaurants and shops all close by.
It's a nice way to pass time, taking in the views of the sea and looking at the stunning scenery nearby. We walked to the harbour nearly every day and found it so relaxing, a must place to visit.

We stopped here on the way to Lindos, primarily to visit the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. However, I very much enjoyed the rest of the area as well. The harbor entrance is gated by two pillars, each with a deer on top.

The harbor area, from where many different boat tours and cruises depart. There are also terraces where you can watch the hustle and bustle of people and admire wonderful yachts.
It is possible to walk to the breakwater, we didn't go there as the trip was towards clothing stores.
