We took the city bus up from Rhodes town and walked the rest. There's not really much to see. Only 2 columns of the Acropolis are still standing and when we arrived they were fenced off. If you haven't seen it, you haven't missed anything. It's definitely better to visit the Acropolis in Lindos. The view there is amazing and overwhelming.

When I was in Greece on the island of Rhodes, I had the opportunity to visit Mount Monte Smith with a small group of people and a guide. This area is for sure worth it to climb on. From the mountain, surrounded by cacti and various vegetation, a beautiful view of Rhodes. Moreover, if you take a closer look, you can see the outlines of Turkey on the horizon. Somewhere in the distance you can also notice how the planes gradually land down. This is truly an exciting sight. ⛰
Would definitely recommend this place to visit ☘️

Visited as part of an island tour this week. Short stop to this area high above the town. Nice views of the town. Access to the restored ancient stadium and small open theatre. Ruins of temple dedicated to Apollo close by. Can be reached by bus. No public facilities observed. Hot and little shade. As is so often the case research before you go as don't expect any information to be available. Sadly this seems so common here.

it s a wonderful view on the top of the hill overlooking Rhodes town. Very close to the ancient stadium you can combine both for a wonderful in-town excursion. The best sunset on the island, it offers a colorful picturesque sight not to be missed. Great spot for fotos and if you like or have doggos, a known walking place.

We had to ask for directions before we finally found a sign pointing the way to Monte Smith so it's not the easiest place to find but it's worth the effort.
There are some ancient bits of Greek carved rock, the remains of columns etc in amongst the trees, quite picturesque and in any other country they would be in a museum but here they are just open to the elements.
Monte Smith is the site of the original Rhodes Acropolis and though completely ruined and partially rebuilt by the Italians it is well worth a visit. The Stadium is brilliant. I have seen two others, one in Rome of which there was very little left and one awesome one at Aphrodisias in Turkey. When I was there (Aphrodisias) I was not feeling well so did not run around it but this time I was fine so Deb has a ‘ministry of funny walks’ picture of me as I complete a circuit of the track. You have to do it whatever the temperature!
The theatre is good, where the Greeks taught Rhetoric a means of verbal persuasion consisting in part of Ethos, the credibility of the speaker, Pathos, where you attempt to create an emotional response and Logos where you use facts and figures to persuade. I could have explained that on the steps of the theatre but to be fair it was stiflingly hot there (you’d burn your bottom if you sat down!) and I don’t think anyone would have listened anyway. Sadly the temple of Athena above was shrouded in scaffolding but it’s still an impressive sight and fun to clamber around.

The most beautiful place in Rhodes. The mountain offers a wonderful view of the coast of Turkey, as well as the tip of the island of Rhodes. I definitely recommend visiting.

Although the Acropolis is understandably an historical site, there was very little information on the way round and one needed a great imagination to get an idea of what it would have been like. The main columns are surrounded by scaffolding and there were no facilities.
