The church is sat on an elevated rock with good views across the village. Gardens inside the walls well tended and the interior of the church is quite atmospheric although the ambiance is spoilt a little by lots of scaffolding where repairing/repainting of murals seems to be underway.
Good for a quick half hour visit.

Quaint little church perched on a tiny mount, stunning views and lovely to see inside. Lovely walk in the old part of Petra around bottom of the mount and also stumbled upon a little balkan house museum a few yards away, also reviewed. You may want to come prepared, as to enter the church they request you have legs and shoulders covered - a thick gown is available at the door.

3/5 the church is fine and apparently very special for a lot of people. For someone who has visited loads of churches around the world this one just doesn’t do it for me. The climb is fine but upon arrival the church was going under maintenance, so the ambiance was completely ruined. The priest was priesting away while we were there which was special.
Good lookout over Petra and a must visit if you are here but you shouldn’t expect too much.
Also there was no information anywhere (not on the route to church) but also not near the church about why it was so special. No information anywhere + loads of goats (which had their paws tied up so they wouldn’t run away) = 3/5 stars for us

Interesting and beautiful, steeped in history is what makes it fascinating and climing all those stairs was well worth it.

Best view worth climbing. Amazing red roofs everywhere and big stone in the middle of the village on which church is located. Church is opened until dusk, be welcome to come inside and see the interior.

You can’t help but look at the beautiful church on the rocks as you approach Petra from road or sea. We made a special visit from Molyvos to climb the steps and visit the pretty church and courtyard. Lovely views from the top. Definitely worth seeking out if in the area.

As a small resort, this is probably the most well-known place to visit in Petra.
Quite a few steps, not as many as there could be though and worth the climb... doesn't take too long !
Decent view from the top.... church closed when we were there but courtyard okay for a few photo opportunities....
A must if you are in Petra !
