Worth a visit, of great historical interest, almost like living 2 or 3 hundred years ago. A bit hard to find, just off the Main Street adjacent to the butchers shop it is open from 8am. Very cool inside, some stairs involved but worth the climb

It is a climb up many steps but it was very peaceful and there are good views all around. If you want to go into the church you should not be wearing shorts but something that covers your knees.

113 stairs to the top, obviously, no wheelchair/pram access, but it's worth it. Beautiful views overlooking the city. Impeccable lavatory.

This church has a special place in my heart. I always walk into churches, lighting candles. We were here when I was recovering from a shoulder surgery when we walked up again. An old lady came to me and told me to dip my fingers into the oil and make a cross on my shoulder. That was the first time... More

The 'Church of the Sweet Kissing Virgin' dominates the Village of Petra. It's a 5 minute stroll from the Square, but, to some, the 114 hewn steps up to the Church on the Rock may not be for everyone! For those who do make the effort, the reward is a wonderful view, from all compass points, of the Village, the... More

A wonderful church, and fantastic views all around. 114 steps up to the church, but worth it for the views alone, but also for the building of course.

Quite a steep climb up to the church but well worth it. The church us quite small and unexceptional. The location is special with 360 degree views over the town and valley on one side and the sea on the other. Peaceful and quiet with shade in the heat of the day, free toilets available at church.

My husband and I viewed the church in the early morning when it was cooler climb the 114 steps we found it relatively easy but as the steps turned toward the top of the church we were grateful there was a hand rail When we entered the church we were in a walled court yard with the original church at...
