Black sand, looming mountain and nearby restaurants and bars are good, wonderfull moonrise and sunset make it better, free sunbeds if you eat at restaurants are a good idea, and easy access by public transport. However, on the downside it gets busy on the road,...More

black grit was a pain to walk on - not sandy in the slightest - and every two minutes we had people pestering us trying to sell us jewellery / massages etc - we paid 3 euros per sun lounger

Unlike a lot of shorelines that are called beaches but don't have any sand, this black sand beach has a lot of really fine sand. We went twice and bought chairs and food from the Magic Bus, a nice restaurant/bar staffed by a Greek guy...More

I went to Perissa beach for the first time and first trip ever to Santorini. Perissa is so different to any ordinary beach with it's black sand and crystal clear water. The only bad thing is that the sand is REALLY REALLY HOT!!!!!! It burns...More

I went to Perissa beach today. Its late October and the weather was chilly so the town/beach was pretty much deserted. During the summers I would imagine this is a great beach to swim and enjoy the Greek sun. There are tavernas along the shore...More

We didn’t rent a car because the bus is so easy to use. We went from Perissa Beach, to Fira and then to Oía, all with the bus and it was like 2-3 euros each way. Very easy and didn’t have to bother with driving

The boat trips are leaving from the port. Ususlly will have a transfer from your hotel or from a pick-up point, arranged by the travel office who sold you the boat trip.

I don’t think it’s walkable. Take a bus to a junction, there’s a walk to the lighthouse.

transport from the airport; taxi or hotel mini bus? (6 Replies)
I got a quote of 20 euros for pickup at the airport for transport to my hotel on Perissa Beach. Does anyone know what a taxi would charge approximately before I book with the hotel? It doesn't look that far, to me, on a map, but I'm new to Greek travel. Thanks!

A taxi will cost €25. The distance 'as the crow flies' is not as far as a taxi has to drive to reach Perissa. €20 is a very good price for an arranged private transfer.

We will be staying in Santorini in September. Is there any difference staying at Perissa Beach or Kamari Beach? Which location would be the best? I know Kamari Beach is much closer to the airport and smaller. We enjoy oceanfront restaurants and unique towns to wander around.

Neither Kamari nor Perissa are unique towns but from both resorts there are frequent buses to Fira where you can spend hours wandering around.

What I would do while on Naxos is schedule some beach time every day in the afternoon to cool off after sightseeing, and not schedule so many beach resorts for Day 3.
