Heavy caveat- the tour was in German which meant I understood about 10%. However it was fun and they did offer audio guides so more fool me. Tickets at a very reasonable 5 euros and while we were waiting we had a drink at the cafe. The tour was about and hour and a half and was a place of natural beauty- I’m sure there are more interesting things to do but if your at a loose end it’s worth it.

One of the caves in the area that is worth visiting. Guided tours in German. Accessible for children. Beautiful lighting.

I have been to various caves over the years but these are impressive by there sheer extensiveness and some of the incredible stalagtite/mites. The tour was well done with a German guide and then you wait behind for the English version, but that worked fine and actually made the obvious delay as everyone gets to the some point, was not as pronounced. The area around the caves is stunning with some lovely walking up to the castle/ the stairway to heaven viewpoint and so much more.

We visited the cave on a Sunday afternoon and while it was not crowded, it was moderately busy. The tour is in German but if you hang back, he will play an audio recording of the English translation. If you require that, just start at the back of the group because others will have moved on by the time the recording started. Makes for a much smaller tour group as there was only our family and one other. Tour length is about 45 minutes, 13.50 euro for a family ticket for 4, 5 euro for any additional adults. Wear good shoes, slick in a few spots and quite a few stairs up and down. The bell outside will ring 3 times when it's 7 minutes prior to the tour start and 1 time when it's starting. That lets you enjoy a coffee or snack in the Terrace cafe while you're waiting for your tour.
