If you’re looking to gain confidence on a board, TORR Snowboarding is the perfect coach for you. TORR was recommended to me by the chalet owner in Châtel and by a friend. I did a beginners group course for 5 days of 2 hour sessions and by the end of the week I was shredding the red slopes. Martin has excellent teaching techniques to help give you the confidence to progress and each lesson is a good laugh. In a group lesson we had plenty of opportunity for 1-2-1 feedback which meant after a couple of lessons our group was able to head up the mountain to enjoy more intermediate runs. Even if you’re intermediate level of snowboarding, I would recommend a lesson with TORR to help with technique and to have someone guide you to the best slopes.

Another trip to Chatel and another session booked with Martin at Torr. Awesome day as always. Martin lead us to some “secret powder spots” off the beaten track and for the rest of the session gave us invaluable tips and technical advice to further our riding. He’s a fantastic teacher who breaks down every detail in bite size chunks and has a greasy way of visualising the details you need to unlock your riding and progress to the next level. I ll be booking regular sessions with him every trip here and can’t wait to get my 12 year old son on his books so he can learn from the best. Thanks again for a GREAT day Martin!

As a snowboarder who did lots of lessons a long time ago, I didn’t think there was much more I could be taught, but Martin proved that wrong. Great day learning about the more technical aspects of snowboarding and tweaking some minor details that really made a difference to the way I ride. Loved learning some tricks that made mucking around on the slopes a lot more fun. Cheers TORR !

This is the second time we have booked Martin to teach our teenage boys snow boarding. They absolutely loved the 5 days spent with him and their boarding skills have improved dramatically throughout the week. They experienced lots of different tricks and terrain and got so much out of the 2 hour sessions.
We’d definitely book with Martin again. A fantastic role model for our boys who enjoyed every minute. It was the boys Christmas gift and an experience I’m sure they will remember for years to come.

My two teens aged 16& 17, complete beginners, completed
2 lessons over 2 days - approx 5.5 hours and were coming down red slopes albeit slowly but managing by the second afternoon! They were delighted with their progress & only that we were already at the end of our weeks ski holiday they would have certainly continued with a few further improvement lessons! All Communication on details on times et al went via Martin and was spot on! The snowboard instructor had high expectations, was demanding and sometimes impatient with slow progress- despite this my kids had a great time and really progressed. They had fun in their group & would certainly sign themselves up with this company again!

Private lesson for 3:
Dougal from Torr was awesome: friendly, easygoing, patient but with great attention to detail. He watched us individually and gave us specific feedback that meant we improved massively in 2 hrs, plus had great fun. Highly recommended :)

This season was warm and we had not much snow. But Martin still leads us to some awesome lines and helps me a lot to get better in every aspekt of riding. We had some great days and a lot of fun. Will come back again and join one of the camps. I can recommend the camps and private lessons to everyone who wants to meet some great guys and earn some skills.

I had only had 4hrs of experience at Castleford in the UK when I arrived in Chatel, nervous and lacking in confidence. I booked 2 x 2hr private lessons with Martin. Within the first hour, my confidence was back, and we took the ski lift and came down a Red run. Martin puts you at ease instantly. He has a great personality and is a pleasure to spend time with. I would advise anyone to book a private lesson with Martin rather than a group lesson as you get so much more out of the sessions.

My son and I had four fab days with Martin at Torr Snowboarding. We were complete beginners but by day two Martin got us solid enough to leave the nursery slope and get on the mountain proper. By day four my son was ahead of me and so Martin took him solo on more tricky runs with some off piste and jumps thrown in. Martin's style of tuition is pitched perfectly for both adults and kids and so if you are a 50yr old like me or a junior like my son and are in the Chatel area then Martin at Torr is your man!

Only had a 2 hour technical lesson with Martin as I had hit a plateau with my riding. His knowledge and the way he explained things was amazing and for the first time in years felt my riding had improved by the end of the week.
Just wish I had time for another lesson!!
