If the weather's nice, the Ramparts make for a lovely walk of an hour or so. Great views, and worth stopping off at the historic Citadel. But be aware that there are precipitous drops unprotected by barriers or warning notices, so I'd advise against taking small children - or even dogs - unless they are totally under control.

Well worth the walk round ~ maybe an hour or so?
Easy to follow wide paths, that completely circumnavigate the town (except where it crosses the south road entrance).
Probably not for young children as there are steep drops with no barriers.
Good views in all directions (if you walk all around).
Plenty of benches on the way round, easy to cut down into the town from any part.

Took one look at the vertigo inspiring drop over these 'ramparts' must be about 100-200
feet sheer and didnt go back.
Theres nothing to warn the stroller away from the edge.
Due to the greenery its very difficult to see there IS an edge!
No signs. No rails. The grass slope just ends suddenly.
Can you imagine the danger at night or if someone whod had too many beers
was up here.?There have been cases of dogs chasing balls over cliffs in Dover.
Apart from that the museum citadel or roger whatisname was shut either for lunch or down.
I never did get to the bottom of why.

We had a lovely stroll around the ramparts of this pretty little town. Beautiful views in all directions but beware as there are no safety railings.

The extent and scale of the ramparts at Montreuil-sur-mer is surprising and encloses virtually all the town. There could be more information regarding when and how the ramparts were constructed. The fact that there are no guardrails makes the ramparts highly dangerous for children and dogs, as any fall could be fatal.

This was a lovely place, however, sheer drops of extreme heights should be taken into account if visiting with younger children.

I have been meaning to walk the Ramparts for many a time but this visit gave me time.
So much better that the council leave the grasses high at the edge and lower slopes as poppies , wild flowers & bees are plentiful.
Enjoy the full walk around but keep away from the edge!!

The walk around the Remparts is about 3km, you have panoramic views of the surrounding areas. If you want to take in smaller sections there are steps or ramps they take you back into the town.
