The lighthouse in Lile Rousse is a pleasant walk with great views of the surrounding area, no ammenities but plenty of hotels and shops within walking distance. Most abilities should be able to manage it.

Walked up rather than going by tourist train. Excellent views of town and seascapes. No facilities at the top which is unexpected.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Very warm, welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely facilities. Spotlessly clean. Super modern. Very reasonable priced. Very well situated. Happy to return again and very happy to recommend it to others.

It's definitely worth the walk up to check out the views of the town and the surrounding area. Plenty of places for a drink or snack nearby on your way down.

Nice walk to lighthouse. Lowely red rocks. The best view on a town Lle Rousse, near mountains and beaches. It is a bit windy.

We had travelled with a group and a visit to the lighthouse was arranged with the road train taking us to the top and back down again. Although a bit steep I would have been able to easily walk to the top. As with nearly...More

Mostly interesting for its pink granite this is a place worth visiting en route to Calvi. There is a nice beach which is not crowded.

Craft Centre, St Lawrenz (2 Replies)
I have read there is a craft centre and also a mini mart called Light House in/ near St Lawrenz. Are these in walking distance from the Kempinski and if so how far? Also when is the craft market open? Thanks

Both the Craft Centre and the lighthouse supermarket are a 10 minute stroll from the Kempinski, you will actually pass them just before you turn left towards the hotels approach - the supermarket is excellent and has a good selection of wines at ok prices. If I remember correctly, the Craft Centre open seven days a week during the Summer season.

Advice on 13 Day Highland and Island Tour (11 Replies)
I know there are a million 'look at my itinerary' posts, and I'm starting to feel like I've read them all, but I feel compelled to ask the experts anyway. I've been planning a trip to Scotland for my husband and mother for the month of September. The trip itself revolves around my sister's wedding in Ayrshire. Generally the first week of September we're spending in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and then we're taking the train to Oban, visiting Mull and Iona. For the second week we have access...More

As almost everything is closed on Sundays on Lewis and Harris, it would be better if you could take an extra day somewhere in week 1, and cross over from Ullapool to Stornoway on the Sunday evening 21 September. If your mother doesn't like moving on every day (I sympathise!), you can stay three nights in one place on Lewis and Harris, as they are one island, and two nights in one place on Skye. So to sum up, I would suggest this: Sunday evening 21 Sept: arrive Stornoway. Stay three...More

Fanad Head Light House or Blackhead Lighthouse (0 Replies)
I am in the beginning stages of planning our family trip to Ireland. One of the things I would really like to do is stay overnight in one of the lighthouse accommodations. We will probably arrive in Belfast but may consider Dublin and will likely hire a driver/gude to shuttle us to either Fanad Head Light House or Blackhead Lighthouse to stay for a couple nights. We will not have a car but will be relying on public transportation such as trains or taking taxis. Does anyone have any...More
