During our many journeys in Austria we visited many gorges. This one was definitely the worst one. It was not interesting because you can not go allong the water. You can see the gorge only from above. There were too many people there. The small lake in the upper part of the georgeis not worth seeing - surrounded by road with car traffic.

Whilst the Rappenlochschlucht has now reopened after the major rockfall, signs of damage remain. However, the nearby Alploch gorge is spectacular in its own way, and we actually enjoyed it more than the more familiar Rappensloch. The Erbit bus from Dornbirn will take you all the way, so that you can walk back down. Don't miss Alploch!

The Rappenlochschlucht is a walk through geological-glacial history. A fast moving river runs through the cliffs and through time carved through the soft spots resulting in a walkway trough geological history. An amazing set of bridges takes you through what is now...as of about ten years ago, a landslide covered mini canyon-cavern with a restaurant on the head end of the trail. Day or night, the light filters through the trees and rocks well over a hundred feet above to impress upon you the power of water over thousands. ...tens of thousands or maybe even millions of years...TAKE the WALK...its worth it

A beautiful walk .
The 187 steps on the way did mot make it very easy but on the whole it was an hour walk and a very relaxing one.

The hike is amazing as it is in the shade so can be enjoyed on hot days. You get beautiful views and it is a nice and easy hike. It is mostly flat with a very moderate uphill and a couple of stairs.

I knew from the photos I saw before I travelled to Dornbirn that I wanted to visit this landmark. If you are coming here I recommend the number 47 bus from Dornbirn station. The gorge was worth the journey. I was amazed by the size and beauty of the all rivers, rocks and trees. Autumn is coming and the golden colours of the leaves were just starting to come thorough. It was spectacular. I decided to take the route round the Kraftwerk Ebensand then up to Karren but I warn you it was tough going taking almost 3 hours and I was not prepared nor did I have sensible shoes.

it is officially closed in the winter, but nothing is impossible for a person who wants to live something special. There are only small barriers and you can walk around them:) Views of the frozen waterfalls and the lake are something unique. You can go down a narrow path to one of the waterfalls and discover the hidden cave. See photos that I added underneath;) It's perfect place to spend your time on a day free ofskiing

The Rappenlochschlucht is a fantastic place to visit with friends and family. It is possible to just do a part of the walk in case some are not too keen on walking. There are kiosks on the way to provide you with drinks and snacks and there is a great restaurant at the entrance close to the Rolls royce museum. By the way the Rappenlochschlucht is nice and cool on a really hot day!

Nice walk through rocks and waterfalls, starting from a ancient factory that is now a nice restaurant
