El Valle de Anton, a picturesque town nestled in the second largest living crater of a huge extinct volcano, surrounded by lush green forests and jagged peaks.

Home to an impressive set of waterfalls and natural pools.

The valley is unique because of the strange square trees, which have grown on the volcanic soil.

The rectangular shape of the trees is directly related to the conditions in the valley - when planted in another location, the trees would have normal circular trunks.

My wife and I really enjoyed the hour we spent here. We came right at opening and the butterflies were very active.

This place is certainly worth a visit if you are visiting El Valle de Anton and have a hour to spend. The ticket price was really fair considering the show. The guide wad really fun and informative and to our surprise, could speak few phrases of Finnish. We actually learned many new things about butterflies, their lifecycle, colouring and of course saw multiple new ones. Thank you!

Make sure to listen to the tour, enjoy the butterflies and know that you are supporting a local establishment. We loved this place and were super impressed with professionalism, great upkeep and the mini lecture on butterflies, we learned a lot!

We loved visiting this place, there were butterflies EVERYWHERE, they came and landed on you and stuff, it was really cool. The staff were very knowledgeable and told all all about butterflies in English, and they had lots of things to show us too. BEWARE you can't go in with bug spray on. We'd just covered ourselves in bug spray and had to wash it all off before we could go in, and even then the staff were concerned we hadn't got it all off and limited our time in there, which was a shame. Go here first, then bug spray for the day after (would have been handy to know in advance, there are no signs or anything to tell you)

Interesting and informative introductory, brief lecture. Lots of respect for nature and the metamorphosis process. Beautiful butterflies in small enclosed area. Well worth a visit when in the area.
