APROVACA is an orchid nursery & conservation center. We display over 100 beautiful orchids, most of which are native to Panama. Entrance is $2, which include a 20-min guided tour of the center in Spanish or the free use of an English self-guided tour booklet. APROVACA is one of the few places where the National Flower of Panama, the Dove Orchid, is grown in the country. In the greenhouse dedicated exclusively to this endangered flower, you can see over 100 plants growing. In fact, each flower has a sponsor, who donates $20 annually to help us care for and protect this gorgeous orchid species. In our recently expanded garden, you can also see many unique orchid species, such as the vanilla orchid (vanilla is actually an orchid!), lady slipper orchids, the Vanda Miss Joaquim (the gorgeous National Flower of Singapore) and many cute little miniature species. As such, there is no better place to learn about the amazingly rich and unique flora of Panama!Apart from admiring the beautiful orchids, you can also buy the Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis) and over 20 varieties of herbs and medicinal plants. We also run an internet cafe on our premise, where we offer high-speed internet connection through computers and Wi-Fi, good coffee, homemade cakes and fresh juice. The latest addition to our center is Hostel Orchid, the first genuine backpacker accommodation in El Valle. The rate is $12 per night, which include hot shower, free Wi-Fi and a free visit of the orchid center APROVACA. Please visit our renewed website to learn more about us. We are waiting for your visit!

A nice experience to wander through and see the orchids but the best part was watching all the different birds come into the yard.

An interesting and educational visit among the blossoms. The Nursery provides tours of their 100+/- different orchids and other flowering plants.

There is only 1 sign just out of town( on Hwy 71 as you drive up from the Pan American). As you pass the Rey supermarket on the left, look for a left turn onto a street with... More

The guide had tremendous knowledge of orchids, native medicinal plants, local culture, and the variety of orchids. Takes about 30-45 minutes to view. Would be suitable for families and children. Nice exhibit.

There are over 1000 species in Panama and they have well over 100. The guide was great and even spoke some English. The vanilla orchid was our favorite.

Not a large exhibit but lots of beautiful orchids on exhibit being grown in their natural habitat. A very easy stroll through the orchids. We were with a guide that knew all the orchids if you really want to drill down into the detail. But not critical if you're just looking for a way to spend an hour or so... More

A wonderful and knowledgeable volunteer gave us a thorough tour of the small but very interesting conservation program. Well worth a half-hour of time and $2. Worthy of support from orchid lovers and conservationists.

So nice to see the effort has been made to preserve the orchids of Panama. We never realised there were so many wild orchids here. The guided tour was very interesting and worth the visit!

Came to the Orchid Nursery. There were some orchids on the wall when you first came in. Then I was told to wander the paths through the trees. Not one orchid in bloom! So ask before you enter.

Pretty small, well intended and impressive development that used to be funded via Japan and now is self funding. $2 admission with short guided tour and talk.
