Percy proved to be a perceptive, intuitive and patient surf instructor which helped mi pareja to succeed in advancing to a level higher than that achieved previously. He is also great company and a gentleman.

Can’t say enough about Palo Santo. Our family (my wife, 2 sons and me) had been dreaming about going to Costa Rica for many years and it finally came to fruition this past spring break (April 2015). A major goal of our trip was to get some serious surfing instruction time. All of us had tried surfing a few times over the years but never really had the chance to really pick up the sport. Being a pretty active ski/snowboard family we were determined to get more into surfing. Percy and Alonso the owners of Palo Santo were amazing operators/surf Instructors providing the appropriate level instruction and excellent equipment for all of us for 4 straight days. Our daily 3 hour surf sessions started with a prompt pick up at our place (Pranamar Villas) in a new air conditioned van (already loaded with that days boards) at 2 or 3pm. Every day Percy and Alonso adjusted our equipment to our current and advancing skills – always providing new and good quality boards. All of us upgraded our boards 2-3 times over the 4 days. By the end of 4 days we were all able to paddle out and ride a wave ourselves – without any assistance from them. Our two sons were popping up on their own the first day while my wife and me were getting up comfortably by the end of the second day. On the 3rd and 4th days we were all paddling, turning, popping up and riding “small” waves. Our sessions always ended with all of us hanging out on the beach watching beautiful sunsets. We live in NYC and spend the summers in Long Island at the beach so we hope to become a surfing family this summer - thanks to Percy and Alonso!! Aside from the phenomenal instruction, these guys were just overall super great guys – always providing us with fresh coconut milk (straight from the coconut) – before, during & after our lessons. Knowing that my sons were really into surfboards & surfing gear they picked us up early on one of the days and arranged a tour of a local surfboard manufacturer where we got to see the craft of making/shaping custom surfboards. Both Percy and Alonso were also extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Costa Rica’s environment providing us with endless facts and information. We definitely plan to go on one of their nature expeditions on our next trip to Santa Teresa. Of course we plan to surf with them next year as we are now hooked on the magic of Santa Teresa. Thanks again Percy & Alonso.

Wow!! That's all that comes up to my mind. Those guys are just incredible. Thank you so much Persy and Alonso. We went to Santa-Teresa to disconnect after the death of my mom and the guys of palo santo were recommended to me by the hotel. The first tour I did was the Tortuga Island Snorkeling Tour and really it was incredible. Too bad I had forgot to buy a waterproof discardable camera for all the fish during snorkeling they were so many colorful fishes. Then we had a treat of fresh fruits and drinks to a secluded beach, so nice!!! During the same tour we visited a national park, I was able to take pictures of lots of local animals (lazy monkey, white face monkey, tattoo, lots of birds and lots of funny local fruit trees and their fruits). They are certified biologists so image how much information we got! The experience was so nice that we decided to make another tour and take the surfing lessons (by a certified surf teacher) with them. Their bus is comfortable, clean, air conditioned, they have uniforms, you see they are professionals. They personalized their tours and so we were able on the second tour to go kayak at the mouth of a river and saw a mangrove. wow!!! so many animals, we even (safely) saw a crocodile. Seriously we saw lots of unprofessional surf lessons and tours in the area (tourist trap) but these guys are honest, friendly and passionate about what they do !!! they do it to share their knowledge and love of the area unlike many other places! seriously Tripadvisor those guys should be in the top 3 attractions of the area!!! Needless to say I plan to renew the experience.

Percy and Palo Santo are awesome. Santa Teresa is a special place, and Palo Santo is a great way to enjoy it. Percy worked with us to really make sure we could do everything we we wanted to do. Very organized and really knowledgable. Our goals were to surf, practice some yoga, enjoy the wonderful nature of Costa Rica, and really enjoy the charm and culture of Santa Teresa. Transportation was all arranged, and a solid itinerary was set up in advance. Percy did our surf lessons, and for some beginners, we had a blast and decent success. He really tries to give you the tools to be able to eventually surf well on your own, a strong foundation. Also helps that he took good care of us. Yoga was set up with Jess who has a beautiful little studio and focused the session on our goals and what we wanted to work on. Really adds to the experience with the green surrounding the open air studio and the sounds of birds and the ocean. For not being a big yoga guy, really enjoyed it (and the fiancé really loved it who is a bit more experience with yoga). I can't say enough about Percy's knowledge. We went out to the national wildlife rescue Curu and learned so much. His knowledge of animals, birds, sea life, and plants is really impressive. At the same time, he can share so much about Costa Rica's history and its culture. It's eye-opening. You get the real story from him, and it really adds to understanding how Costa Rica is. If all goes well, we will be back next year with Palo Santo.
