Super surfing beach with lots of big waves. Large sandy beach with no big rocks on a large stretch of the beach. Great for long walks and sitting to enjoy waves and surfers. Dogs everywhere and most very friendly. Some wanting to share your spot.

We eat here a few times every trip. Super friendly bartender who remembers me year after year. Makes me feel like I'm at home. Great wood fire pizza that my kids ask for night after night.

One of the better beach parts at the pacific coastline. The beach is much better than in the northern part of the coastline. I can give only 3 points because of the infrastructure. The roads/ways are a disaster. Just a dusty rocky way. Sorry that’s not acceptable!

The beach is all very rocky and is difficult to get in and out. Also the water is heavy and there is a lot of current. Is nice to see the sunset.

At 54 I took my first surf lesson with my son here! It’s a fantastic little beach that is part of Santa Teresa/Mal Pais area.

Loved this beach for its wonderful surfing and people- watching at sunset, but mostly for the great food and drinks and staff at Carmen's- the pizza restaurant there which had the BEST ceviche we tasted. Ask for Werner Perez who manages the front of the House or Fernando. Wonderful people with great stories and a wealth of information.

I'm not sure you can get a bad sunset in this part of Costa Rica, but we enjoyed watching most of our sunsets at this beach. It's very large and sandy, not many rocks in the water so its great for swimming and surfing if the waves cooperate. It's probably one of the busiest if not THE busiest beach in the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area, but it was never remotely crowded the whole time we were there. Huge plus, the Pizzaria right on the beach that serves great drinks at reasonable prices. We were able to grab beers or cocktails while at the beach and while watching the sunset. My fondest memories of Costa Rica are of this beach. Highly recommend if you make the trip out to Puntarenas.

Water is almost warm. The waves are big but inviting. I dont surf but loved swimming under the waves.

I recently stayed at Selina, which is a unique hostel, in Boca Del Tora Panama and in the Santa Thersa area of Costa Rica. What I like about this"Young at Heart" hostel is,their slogan:"Ask Me Anything."which is worn by they staff,on the back of their T-shirts.They live up to this slogan by, trying very hard to accommodate the guest, every need. For example:I like the place so much that I kept extending my staff, and even though it was high season, and the hotel was booked, they made it happen. They also have activities for the guest to participate in, surfing lessons, evening entertainment, like fire workers, and there is a pool bar-be que each night. They also have a shuttle service, between the various Selinas, and the airport in San Jose. All of the Selinas, have a kitchen, which is and added bonus.
