I would like to start off this review by saying Emma is top notch and one of the best people you could meet, in terms of someone who is compassionate in her business as well as customers. I have used her business numerous times as a repeat customer and will never use anyone else. I have read some of the more critical reviews and it upsets me to see people bash her business. First and foremost you are in Belize, do not expect a Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM, etc.. as those cost entirely too much money to import. Emma’s bikes will get you to point A to point B any where in Belize comfortably. She does in fact have a Honda that stays rented out pretty regular so you might be lucky and snag it. ;) This business goes above and beyond to ensure the customer has the best time they possibly can and will always go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. I highly recommend 10/10 you use Emma and her staff for your motorbike rentals, seeing belize on bike is one of the best experiences you can have. As always be safe and ride on!

I rented a 250 Dual Sport while staying in Hopkins for a week. My experience was stellar- and Emma was most accommodating and helpful in all phases of the adventure, including picking me up at my hotel on short (no) notice. LShe is truly a reflection of someone who enjoys what she does.

There is a lot to see and do on a day trip from Hopkins, but in hindsight, I wish I had planned a country wide traveling excursion staying in other locales along the way. Next time!

Riding a 250, for someone used to a 1770 cc cruiser or 1200 dual sport, was a bit of an adjustment. It just feels so different. However, it was a totally capable bike for Belize Highway’s. I could a easily reach speeds of 60 or so- and I am a big guy. I got it up to 107 KM/hr, whatever that is, before I ran out of straightaway (Don’t tell Emma). Where the bike was most comfortable though, was on loose or rough jungle roads. Certainly a less intimidating venture than my 1200 dual sport. Bring your A game in defensive driving in Belize though- I found some drivers In Belize to have very little respect for those of us on MC’s.

If you’re looking for a reputable, trustworthy person to set you up for your Belize MC adventure, have no reservations in getting a reservation with alternate adventures.

I’m writing this review as I enter my third week in Belize and I have to say that this shop is arguably the most legitimate, thoughtful, and best run business I’ve encountered in Belize so far. My girlfriend and I had an epic (and safe!) six days riding 250cc dual sport bikes around Belize thanks to the team here. The bikes were pristine, very well maintained, and Emma/the shop was super helpful in helping us plan our trip—from gear to itinerary. You even get a local phone for your trip to call the office in case you ever need help or have questions.

The only snag we hit during the trip was when my chain fell off the bike. We called in (using the phone we got) to ask for help and had the chain back on in less than five minutes. Turns out that getting a chain back on a motorbike is even easier than getting back on a bicycle if you know what you’re doing.

So five stars all around and I would go as far as saying you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better run shop in Belize :-)

I spent two weeks getting lost in the west, south and central coastal regions of the country. The 200cc dual purpose bike was perfect for the sometimes quite challenging back country "roads", heading up into the mountain rainforest for Mayan ruins or into the back jungle for caves and a butterfly farm. If you're going back country, be prepared with the right gear, it can be challenging and it IS remote, travel light. If you have dirt bike experience, you will love it. If you don't, and you're willing, you will learn fast and have a lot of fun doing it.

Traveling the highways to the main towns was easily done with lots of scenery, and is fine for a rider with minimal experience.

Emma has it nailed. She knows the destinations and runs a professional business and shop. There is a small, newly built hostel on the property, so you can fly into BZD, hop on a commuter plane, and park it overnight right there on the rooftop patio, before heading out well-rested in the morning.

The easiest way to set up the trip is to talk to her on WhatsApp about what you have in mind. I found that every suggestion she made was very valuable.

Awesome, safe country, lovely people, great bike tour shop and hostel.

Renting a motorcycle from Motorbike Rentals/Alternate Adventures in Hopkins is 100% the only choice that would make any sense at all if wanting to ride Belize. Hopkins might be somewhat off the airport, but that is quicky compensated by the fact that its located at a perfect place to start and end a motorcycle adventure. The surroundings around Belize City are neither particularly safe nor scenic so I was very happy to not start my adventure there (btw, the rest of the country outside Belize City area feels very safe).

Emma, Cornelio and Juan has almost 15 years of experience of arranging motorcycle adventures in Belize and the truth is their product is so much more than just the bike! They completely customized my trip, listened to every interest I had and told me not only where to go but also where to stop, what beaches and rivers to swim in, where to eat the best roadside tamale, see best view, the most fun road, best river to cross etc etc. There would have been no way to be off the beaten track without these guys and when I think about it their product is way more than a simple motorcycle rental, the real value is in all the knowledge, inspiration and support. It probably also helps that Emma is an avid ADV rider herself that has ridden in several continents and therefor truly understands the needs of a motorcycle journey.

This operation is truly amazing – beyond 5 stars! Also I stayed at a private room at their connected moto hostel, Crash Pad Adventure Hostel, for part of the adventure which had a few other moto travelers at the same time which made things even better. Rooftop beers at the end of the day and also I shared some rides with some of the other travelers. Cant wait to come back!

We organized two motorcycles for a week-long rental with Emma at alternative adventures. What a blast this was. Touring Belize on two wheels is the best way to see Belize and Hopkins makes an excellent home base to tour the southern part of Belize. Emma and staff were awesome and made sure we were set up properly for our adventures. Lastly fuel in Belize is pretty expensive so renting motorcycles turned out to be a great way to save some money as well as fuel cost.

We rented two Honda 150s for 4 days throughout southern Belize and had a great trip. Bikes were well maintained and we appreciated being given a local phone in case we had any issues. When we did run into a problem, Cornelio was quick and able to help us over the phone, getting us back on the road. Everything one could expect from a motorcycle rental plus more. Highly recommend!

I was in Hopkins in April where I rented a motorbike from Motorbike Rentals & Alternate Adventures. I has booked online and when I got there Emma was expecting me. She was fantastic we did the formalities then she showed me the bikes all of then were in excellent condition and clean. Emma then asked me what I was interested in and she produced a map and marked all of the points of interest
Then she gave me a local cell phone in case I got lost or had a flat or something Wow !! who ever heard of that? My last day rained so I returned the bike and Emma gave me a credit for the day I cant say enough about this place and the professional way I was treated by a

Alternate Adventures is one of the coolest places I’ve found on my travels! Emma, the owner, is wonderful, and has a wealth of knowledge about Belize which will help you plan the perfect adventure. Whether you want to ride to waterfalls, Mayan ruins, butterfly farms or cultural activities, she can point you in the right direction and give you great ideas. The motorbikes are excellently maintained, and they have a variety to chose from for taller or shorter riders alike. It’s the perfect way to see Belize and experience it more like a local on two wheels. I came here with my own motorcycle, and their knowledgeable mechanic was able to help me fix a few things, which was also great. Trying out the rental bikes, they were actually better suited to the local trails and roads (sometimes a little bike is much easier to handle!) I highly recommend this spot and will be back again
