- thornbury_travellersThornbury, Australia745 contributionsI did this tour with a little hesitation but was pleasantly surprised. Our guide was Rama who was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. We learnt a lot about many fruits and also got to sample the ones that were in season during our walk which was an added bonus . The fruit juice and platter at end of tour was a nice way to finish the visit . Highly recommendedVisited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 30, 2024
- RosliSydney, Australia1,840 contributionsHad a great visit with an excellent guide who took us around. I think his name was Ramo (apologies if I’m wrong). He was informative with a lovely personality. But in saying that all of the staff were great. I would highly recommend a visit (and buy some Coffee Honey) it’s so good.Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 22, 2024
- DNMMiami Beach, Florida443 contributionsGood place, must to visit, exotic fruit and nice staff. Buy freshly harvested mango, jackfruit and papaya. Outstanding local coffee in the cafe, ask for espresso! Don’t expect to much, just enjoy a new knowledge about some of the fruits, you haven’t know before.Visited January 2025Traveled with familyWritten January 26, 2025

We drove so we walk in without reservation on weekday. No need to wait and no queue, I was told no reservation is required as well. We bought tour with, juice and fresh fruit package.
Nice weather as it is up in the mountain.
There’s a mini tour “bus” with shelter that bring you from reception to the farm area. It’s walking tour, most area are flat land except for a steep downwards road (very short, less than 2meters). No need to walk back up. You walk further down and there will be the “bus” to bring you back to the reception area. Overall tour is about 30mins and get to see around 10 different types of fruits. There’s a toilet at the end of the tour before you board the “bus” to return to reception.
You can buy raincoat for RM$6 per piece if it rain or carry your own umbrella.
The tour will stop if there’s heavy rain.
It is an organic fruit farm and you get to drink a small glass of their fruit enzymes at the end of the tour.

I was very disappointed when I visited the tropical fruit farm in Penang. I feel it is overpriced and not worth the visit at all
When you walk in initially and buy your ticket, you are told you able to have a free fresh fruit juice (which admittedly was nice) and a fruit platter and then carried up to the top of the farm in a Jeep. This is where the enjoyment ends
Walking around a farm which has very little fruit to show and not that educational I found very boring, as did my family, and for the price it is a complete rip off
I feel your time and money could be spent much more wisely
On another note, it is almost impossible to get taxi or a Grab from this location and you will end up paying a premium to get back to your hotel
Avoid making this trip

The whole thing feels very scammy. The tour is 30 min, done in a hurry, almost running around. The guide had 2 sentences prepared for each stop and could not answer any of the questions the group asked. Then they bring you to the shop where they insist you buy something. The place however is beautiful which is a shame

Very enjoyable experience made memorable by our guide Mr Ramo, who took us through a very educational tour tasting unique fruits not commonly seen. It is an organic farm so you can just eat them as they are without washing. Would strongly recommend the guided tour.

Got a taxi here three of us best way to get there you dont need organised tour.
You have a guide showing you around and explaing various fruit, you then get to try some which is lovely and fresh.
The views are fantastic this place is really worth a visit the cost for the far. is about £6 English pound x

We had several types of fruit from there at the recommendation of the staff there . They would not sell us the soursop as they claimed it wasn’t ripe yet . The mangoes were the highlight of the visit, the pineapple was acceptable but the other fruit were mediocre especially the pomelos - they were badly cut and terrible with no taste and hard . The price was over priced too for what it was .
Would we return ? The answer is no - it wasn’t worth the visit and the price .

You can get here by grab, but getting back may be a problem as its further than 5km from the nearest town. Thankfully the owner fixed the problem for us. You do a guided tour of the farm and through some shops (of course). The guide was interesting, and all the staff here are lovely people. Do not expect perfect English, you are in Malaysia.

Does the friut farm still offer a shuttle service from the Bay View Hotel Batu Ferringhi and how much is admission for adults please. Thank you.
Written November 26, 2019
Best to ask at hotel whether they offer shuttle service to fruit farm, if not get a grab taxi. Cheaper than normal taxi.
The Tropical Fruit Farm website will give you admission prices

Written August 8, 2018

Is it possible just to buy some fruit of your choise at the farm?
And is it also possible to walk around on your own or do you have to pay for this?

Yes you can buy fruits from us but you can’t walk around the farm by yourself. You have to pay for a guided tour.
Thanks.

Hi
Which fruit farm is better? the one at Penang or the one at Langkawi (Mardi Agro Technology Park)?
Written July 19, 2017
I didn't go to the farm in Langkawi. Tropical fruit farm is worth the experience. At Ghee Hup Nutmeg Factory, you learn something you will not learn else where, it's just a 10 mins visit.
