Beautiful temple
Apr 2019 • Friends
Went there on a sunny day. There are steps you need to climb before reach the foot of the pagoda. You can get a great view from the highest point. Doesn't seem to able to access the pagoda.

Peaceful serene temple

Extremely beautiful temple, felt the calm, peaceful and serene aura of the temple while on its grounds! Do check out the beautiful carvings of arhats near the stairs up to the pagoda area!

Stunning site
Feb 2019 • Friends
Was unsure what to see in Meizhou with limited information available online and chose to come here - was the right choice. Incredible area which not only includes the tower, but many other temples which are well decorated and everything is maintained in a very good order. During the lunch time some local food is served (just one dish and lots of people would queue for it, so should be good).

Great Meizhou Attraction

This is a beautiful area to explore. The tower is also in a very elegant Buddhist temple so you can explore both at the same time. You can explore the entire temple complex in about an hour. You could stay all day if you want to closely study the intricate art and paintings throughout the temple.

Free admission.

Calm, clean and beautiful temple
Feb 2019 • Couples
We've visited 2 days before the Chinese New Year at about 9.00 am. There was hardly any people around. By 11.00 am people started coming.
It was a very well kept large temple. Have couple of stairs to climb to reach to the Thousand Buddha Tower.
Unfortunately, it is not allowed to climb up the tower. There is a small model of the tower in the ground floor where visitors can go around and see.

We took over 2 hours to wander around.

Can use Bus No 6 or 20 to go to the temple.

Not Enough Time
Dec 2018 • Couples
After breakfast SWMBO and I, and all the other 50 or so travellers boarded the coach and it pushed its way into the morning MeiZhou rush hour. We were just settling down to a post-breakfast snooze when it was ‘All out, back in 90-minutes. The Thousand Buddhas were about to be woken-up again.

First stop was the turtle pond when SWMBO bought a bag of ‘holy’ turtle food for ¥10 from her WeiXin wallet. I fed the turtles and fish while she carried on as she wanted to see the tower close-up.

The temple looks mostly grey walls but as ever look-up to see the brilliant blue, green and gold of the roof supports. There’s lots of temples to see and time only for SWMBO short genuflections, and with only 90 minutes we hurried on and upwards.
Ye Gods! There is a lot of walking and a lot of steps in this place. I stopped to admire various buddhas in their temples, then swiftly as my old legs could carry me, up more steps. I must admit to diverting to the temple of the wealth god, hoping he’s smile down on me for feeding the turtles and fish.

There’s a ‘history’ sign in English as you near the tower but that’s it for the foreigner.
Finally, I caught-up with SWMBO at the entrance to the tower. This was the summit of our trip. There wasn’t time to climb the eight floors of the tower. Disappointed we strolled around the small garden until a phone call from the tour guide asked us where we were as the other travellers were already boarding the coach. An hour was enough for them!

Before we left the summit, we availed ourselves of what must be the highest facilities in MeiZhou! Then it was down innumerable flights of steps. I threw the remainder of the ‘holy’ food to the fish and turtles as I scurried past hoping the wealth god was watching.

Within 20 minutes we were back at the coach. I would have expected a round of applause for our efforts but all we got were a few black looks. Philistines, the lot of them! All they’re interested in is eating and shopping. No appreciation of their heritage.

A pity it was early morning and rather chilly, and we didn’t have more time but that’s par for these tours.

Anyway, safely ensconced on the coach we were off across Meizhou to PanKeng Scenic Resort (TA reviewed).

Nice Temple
Sep 2018
One of the sightseeing place to visit in Meixian. The place is big and you can walk from the entrance to the very top where there is a Pagoda at the Top. The temple, structure, statue is very aesthetic.

Interesting temple to visit
Apr 2018 • Couples
The temple is indisputably one of the best sight for tourists to visit in Meizhou.
The numerous Buddha statues and pagoda are the chief attractions.

Thousand over years old metal pagoda featuring 1000 Buddhas
Apr 2016 • Friends
The most amazing thing about this Temple/Tower is the Thousand over years old metal pagoda featuring 1000 Buddhas. Otherwise it is a fairly new temple built in 1991. The metal pagoda is enshrined in a new pagoda a few stories high but not opened for climbing. You are supposed to circumambulate the pagoda three times clockwise. Be careful of beggar touts trying to relieve you of your money.
