Most Chinese city parks are fairly similar - they have an amusement park for kids, perhaps a small zoo and a lake with boating. Longhu Park suits the formula, The amusement park is scattered around the park rather than in one section and the zoo also combines with a botanical garden. I didn't visit the payment-required zoo which boasts Siberian tiger(s) and monkeys but seems to be more of a bird zoo judging by the photos outside. There is also a separate pay-to-enter aquarium.
But the park is large and the lakes are quite attractive, one has a pretty island in the middle which is the subject of a legend involving a grateful dragon having a place of greenery to enjoy There are some nice sculptures and a peculiar Chinese version of Stonehenge, part of the world friendship theme.
The Chinese use their parks for making music, bird showing and feeding, tai chi, sports, hobbies and playing in general so you will Chinese of all ages at play.
Worth a visit and a good place for a wandering walk or to amuse the children. The main park is free and so the price is right
