Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff even though we asked lots of questions - it was our first day on Barra. Will definitely return and purchase some of the local products as souvenirs to take home. Well done to you all!

You both travelled to Barra, a small Hebridean Island, in summer season without any bookings for accommodation. On our small island tourist accommodation places are limited in number and it is always advisable to plan well in advance.

What a fantastic community venue!
A shop with food and local gifts and crafts which also seems to be the local launderette and community Cafe.
Managed to find T Shirts for our Grandchildren at a reasonable price.
Does not open til 10am (weekdays) but stays...More

This local community shop has an amazing range of goods for sale from bamboo toothbrushes to Fair Isle jumpers, handmade soaps to silver earrings, rhubarb to Scottish novels. There aren't many shops on the island, but this one caters for all tastes.
During our first visit to this centre, we were delighted with the helpful and friendly staff and the advice they gave for what to do and where to eat on the island. We returned several times for weather reports and more information. For a trip...More
