About
Aurora Spirit is a unique distillery that attracts international attention with its spectacular location. The Lyngen alps, the fjord, the northern lights and the arctic wilderness provide an excellent setting for making whisky and other alcohol products under the brand name Bivrost. The products are based on local herbs, berries and melted glacier water. The northernmost distillery in the world offers guided Whisky tours, Whisky tastings, visits to an old NATO base, bathing under the northern lights and RIB - boat trips under the Lyngen Alps.

First, the location of this distillery it’s amazing, right in the heart of the Lyngen Alps.
The distillery itself is interesting, built in a disused Nato Cold War base (one of the bunkers is used as storage room for some of the spirits produced here). The lounge is simply amazing, cozy and with an outstanding view, just perfect to have a drink and relax. We went for the guided tour (visiting the production room and the viking warehouse where the whiskey is stored) and actually this was the influence of getting 4 stars instead of 5 for this location. The information was not provided in the most explicit way, knowledge to answer to questions was quite limited and nothing mentioned about the history of the distillery which is pretty interesting actually. Thanks God there is internet our days and we could get the info from there.
But overall the place totally deserves the visit and spend some quality time here.
Because of the Norwegian alcohol laws you won’t be able to buy any spirits from here to take home with you but you will find Bivrost products at the shop in the town nearby.

Visiting the world's northernmost distillery turned out to be a great, diverting experience. Here in beautiful, remote Lyngseidet the Bivrost line of premium whiskies are made. Besides the idyllic location, there is a nice, historic viking-theme that is continued throughout the buildings, grounds, and interior furniture and decorations which adds a certain Nordic charm to everything.
Relative to other distilleries I have visited, it is a small operation (a micro-distillery if you will). But it is clean, orderly, and consistently themed, and overall impressive. After touring the distillers and wash tanks, we were allowed to tour the aging barrels housed in what resembles a viking longhouse.
And then, of course, was the tasting in a tastefully decorated lounge with bespoke furniture. Samples of their products were served, and then a souvenir whisky tasting glass with laser etched glass was given to us. Unfortunately, they were not permitted to do direct sales. But we immediately visited a local vinmonopol and bought two bottles.
If you are in this area, I recommend a visit and tour (by reservation).

Stunning place! Took the 1 hour tour with a lovely guide. Learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Despite this being the first distillery I see, I can still tell they have something special going on in here. I will have to return at the latest when the 10 year old whisky rolls out, and definitely take the day tour that time! Strongly recommend the tour for all and if you are not into spirits, there is a great Cafe and views!

My business partner and I went here and got a fantastic tour and tasting. The staff is super willing to give of their competence and passion. Their friendly service is the cherry on the top when they already have great products, facilitation and environment. Would love to take the rest of our crew some other time and party hard! Lots of opportunities and fun in the alps of Lyngen. Viking feels in the mids of nature! Cheers!

We had a fantastic time at the Aurora Spirit. AJ gave us a brilliant tour of the distillery and we enjoyed tasting many of the produce. Its great that the distillery uses locally sourced ingredients for their drinks.
We were also provided lunch which was very tasty.
The tour was made incredibly easy with pickup from Tromso to a ferry, and Sarah picking us up on the other side taking us to the distillery.
I would highly recommend visiting the distillery during your time near Tromso.

Spend the night in a luxury cabin on the side of Lyngenfjord, with the ice cold water lapping on the rocks, after an amazing experience at the distillery.
The staff go over and above to make your visit special.
Don't miss the tasting offers at the bar, in a chilled comfortable and warm lounge!

Although we were originally just planning on visiting Aurora Spirit for the tasting experience, we figured while we were there...we might as well just do everything and add on the lunch and the axe-throwing as well.
And it was an absolutely fantastic afternoon. I'd recommend the whole lot of activities at Aurora Spirit if you're traveling anywhere near Lyngen (which is also worth the drive from Tromso if that's where you're visiting).
Everyone we met at Aurora Spirit was welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable of the products they were producing (our visit was well-timed to have the owner as well as the master distiller on site), but more important than that, their gin is really, really good. To the point where we specifically found the shop selling it near the airport before we took off just to bring some back home.
The light lunch was a nice add-on option, mostly because the salmon in Norway generally is delicious and the dining/tasting room has stunning views.
And the axe-throwing is just flat-out fun. Partly because it's not something I'd tried before and partly because I won the axe-throwing competition.
Aurora Spirit has a great atmosphere that would make it an enjoyable visit for anyone, but if you like gin, it's a must-visit!

We visited on Monday 5 Feb. The journey from Tromso went through some fantastic scenery. We had a fantastic guided tour and it was great to hear about what the distillery are doing and what they are trying to achieve. The tour was really interesting and was definitely worth it. It’s great to hear about companies sourcing local ingredients and producing products in the right way with the right ethics with a keen eye on sustainability. We then had a spot of lunch and walked around outside with some snow shoes and took some great photos. The distillery and the story behind it are fantastic. You should definitely visit here and buy the products where ever you are.

Just amazing. My second time doing the VIP whisky-experience. Learning everything from water to whisky. Getting answers to all the questions, and ends with a really good tasting-experience. Highly recomenden if visiting northern Norway!

Even tough it was a holiday in Norway our giude Sarah went on a tour around the destillery with us. We really like whisky and already visited lots of distilleries in Scotland. That's why we were curious how destillation is done in arctic Norway. Now we know some interesting new facts. We were really suprised of the tasting of the different types of alcohol that are manufactured at Aurora Destillery. Especially the Cloudberry Vodka and the Aquavit with dill tasted fantastic. We are not familiar with Gin, but this one was great too. We had a great time and the view from the visitor center to the lyngen fjord is amazing.

Hallo,
