The distillery is small and well presented. You book through their website. Communication is good. You can access the distillery from Reykjavik either by taxi (expensive) or bus (number 1 drops off an easy 5 minute walk away).
At the distillery you enter in to a small bar area with tables & seats where we were met with gins.
The guide was welcoming and engaging. He talked about the distillery and the drinks, providing a sample of each (approx 9 in total). Started with gins, then aqua vitae and then the whiskies. Part way through we entered the distillery and toured round.
The evening has a relaxed feel. It was very pleasant and interesting. It lasted for a couple of hours. If you like local and unique, and enjoy whisky (& gin) then a I recommend a visit to this distillery. A very pleasant evening.

If you like authentic distilleries, this is a must do. Jon the tour guide was entertaining and fun. I enjoyed the almost two hour tour which included history, magic, and many anecdotes of Icelandic folklore. We were able to try three Gins, 8 single malt whiskeys and the famous Brennavin. Jon was also very generous with his portions. As a family we lie off the beaten path experiences and always look for unique one and only country experiences. Eimwerk is the only real distillery in Iceland. Take a chance, if you like to drink!

My partner's drink of choice is gin and mines in whisky so this was the place for us as they have a few of both. We were a little early in arriving but just sat outside on the benches, the weather was lovely anyway. Páll, who gave us the guided tour, showed up bang on time, greeted us and told us right from the off that we were the only two on the tour. No complaints, private tour. We were sat down on comfy bar tools styled chairs at barrels and were told what the tour consisted off.
The tour had a more informal feel to it because it was just the two us but nothing was skipped and there was more time for conversation and a bit of laugh. We both found it amazing just how an operation like that started and took off, but you'll need to take the tour for the details.
We were given a G&T before we were given a dram of the different whiskies, then gins and the a shot of Brennivín (Icelandic Shnapps). Helpful tip we learned on the tour, never mix any gin with Schwepps tonic water, it masks the taste of the gin quite a lot.
A big recommendation that comes from our experience is have a big lunch or meal before you go. Like a really big one, and bring water with you for before and after. This is because you get to try one of each and there were 8 drinks to have a go of at the time.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that we bought a bottle of 1 of the whiskies, 1 of the gins and a small Brennivín in duty free on our way home. You can't buy any on site due to Icelandic licensing laws. I did buy a t-shirt on site though which looks super cool.
In order to get there from the BSI in Reykjavik, you can take the 1 bus to Hafnarfjardarvegur/Asgardur and follow google maps to the distillery. Its around a 10-15 minute walk from the bus stop. The distillery does have a sign on the main road but the building is situated behind and bigger building in front of it, so when you see the black Eimverk sign, head to the back of the building in front.
Would happily go back and it comes highly recommended. You'll be well looked after and it's a fantastic tour.

It's not a big place- in fact it's not big even AFTER the recent expansion (can't imagine how it all used to fit), so the 'tour' is basically walking from the lobby into the next room and getting a quick overview of the process.
That being said, the tour/tasting is personal, funny, informative, casual and includes tastings of all products plus a G&T at the start!
The guide managed to fit an impressive (almost amazing) amount of knowledge about the history of Icelandic liquors, the background of Eimverk, the different processes between Gin-Whiskey-Aquavit (sp?) into a 2 hour tour- all while providing enough tastes to make us glad we took the bus from Reyk (it's the #1 bus and we took it from DT Reyk- about 25 minutes to the Asgardur stop).
This was a last second decision and worth every one of the 3,000 kr's.
Book early!
Also- it's not terribly easy to find. The address will get you close enough to see their sign out front- from there you need to walk IN BACK of the building to what appears to be two garage doors with a small door in between- they have a sign a above, but it's not terribly obvious...many people were late for our tour due to being lost within 100' of the entrance.

If the master distiller has HelSinGIN in his bar, you know you have come to the right place when it comes to distilled products.

As the climate change has allowed Iceland to farm barley locally, it was only a matter of time when a distiller using locally grown products would emerge in Iceland.

Enter Eimwerk distillery with its over 100% annual business growth of which over a half comes from duty free sales. With the proven Icelandic attitude, unique volcanic taste of its barley and a tradition of distilling in the family that runs the business, the end product is bound to be as crisp and clear as the Icelandic air.

While we are still waiting for the single malt Floki (scheduled to enter the market in 2017), it has so far been the Vor, their gin that has stolen the spotlight. Earning double gold in the San Francisco World Spirits competition in 2014, duty free shops have found the product and rocketed its sales.

You can find Floki, however, in the distillery as a young malt and as a special 'Tadreykt' version where the goodies have been smoked in the sheep dung (feel free to google that out). Dung or not, smoking gives the malt a very nice citric, almost sweet aroma that makes it very drinkable.

Back to GTs, however.

Silicon Valley startups have traditionally started their road to fame in the garages but now we may have a distillery that did the same. The tasting location is an actual garage where it has gradually stolen space from other items as the business has grown. The garage mentality remains, however, so do expect a lot of very practical alcohol tasting with your hosts. Me likes.

Egill. Pall, thank you very much of the tour, the drinks and great company. Let's do this again !

This is a young business and is definitely not one of your big Scottish or Irish distilleries with big fancy tours, however it is absolutely worth taking the time to go to. "Rock" was our host for the evening and excellent he was 😎. He took us on the journey of the distillery and its founders and how they have ended up with their current range of gins and whiskies. Experts may have opinions on their products and certainly they are all different but none were bad, in fact we will definitely be buying some at the airport to take home. Well worth a visit.

I was once only a gin & red wine fan! Now it’s gin, red wine & whisky! Iceland’s first & only distillery. It’s small but you get to taste about 10 great products...all Icelandic origin. Really delicious & I would highly recommend the experience...take the no 1 bus out of Reykjavík... 470 KR one way ...their website give you all the info .

This tour was more than I expected. It was close to downtown where we stayed and was very informative. Rock gave us a lot of information and made us laugh along the way. If your in town, I definitely recommend visiting here. The gin and whiskey were one of a kind.

Last Christmas me and my partner (who is English, I´m and Icelander) got this gift card for a whiskey tasting tour at Eimverk. The card was about to expire so we decided to book a tour on a Tuesday afternoon. When entering the distillery we were pleasantly surprised by how cool yet cozy the visitor´s lounge was. And it smelled so good! The guide was very knowledgable and friendly and one could sense how passionate he was about Eimverk´s products. On the tour we got to try quite many types of gyn, brennivin (aquavit) and whiskey. They all had a special and quite different flavour and we really enjoyed almost every one of them. The distilling area looked very organised, clean and nice. The tour consisted of around 10 people and I believe I can state that all of us walked out with a smile on our faces. Now I´m telling all my friends about how much of a "must go to" place this is.

It was a pleasant surprise to discover this hidden gem; at least for me having lived within walking distance from the distillery since it was founded.
Have visited several distilleries in Scotland; this tiny one is a completely different experience, definately well worth visiting.
