Trek in June 7th. Stayed at the National Park Tavern. Did not notice that nearly all TAC shuttles do not operate during this winter time. So its important to make sure you have your own car. I was fortunate because the owner of National Park...More

It's difficult to pick a highlight from a 7 week trip of North and South Islands but this is definitely up there. After the walk up over the saddle between Mt Ngauruhoe & Mt Tongariro through amazing volcanic terrain you are rewarded with the spectacle...More

If you are a big fan of Lord of the ring this is exactly what you have to do in here. The beginning it's difficult but at the end you will be amazed by the view at pretty lakes with clear water!!

This was harder than I expected and WAY more amazing than I expected. I'd love to do it again. The advice I have is that it's always cold at the summit, so bring some tissue for a cold-induced runny nose. :)

This is a fantastic one day hike, here are a few things to think about: 1. It's demanding in places, especially climbing over the ridge where there are ropes to help you up and steady you. You need a reasonable level of fitness to complete...More

We were hampered by bad weather and had to wait a few days to be able to do the walk. It was worth the wait. The scenery was great- volcanic terrain, beautiful lakes, such amazing colours. Strenuous at times but manageable. We really enjoyed.

Definitely doable. We did this when on tour for the Lions rugby. Drove up in the evening, walked the crossing and drove back the next day
