I was born and grew up in hamilton and visited here many times as a child. Just visited here and it is still as great as it was when I was a child. The entry fee is cheap compared to other tourist operators in the Waikato and they are actually using the money for good rather than their own financial... More

A gem for bird lovers. It has a range of many of their birds well presented and with good information. It includes Kea, KaKa and the large brown Kiwi and other kiwis. Try to visit when the staff are feeding and talking about the individual birds.

Wow I loved this place. Brilliant value for money and seeing my first kiwi was a magical moment. The grounds are very natural and the animals are in a great environment. These guys do a brilliant job of getting information across about the kiwi. I would actually re visit this place!!

Visited today with daughter and a 3 year old and an 18 month old. Best visit ever. Excellent customer service, brilliant volunteer who guided us round and we saw 9 tuatara in the aviary. I love all the shade and how it is completely doable with small children who can get bored easily. An absolute 'must see'.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'm so glad to hear your little ones enjoyed their visit. Our volunteer guides are awesome and it's always good to get a hand from someone 'in the know' to help you spot tuatara in our free flight aviary. They can be right beside the track and still I've walked past them! We hope... More

Great for killing a couple of hours. You can see a kiwi real close and it's fun to watch the keeper being 'attacked'. The photocopied map is really unclear as you can't read the words.

Loved it! Recommend! I'd give this place a 5/5 but some of the displays and facilities need to be updated. This certainly didn't take away from the very special experience of seeing KIWI! And kea...and tuatara...and feeding kakariki right out of our hands! Also: super friendly staff and cute gift shop. Last but not least...this place does awesome and super... More

Thank you for your very kind feedback! I'm so glad to hear you managed to spend some time seeing kiwi, kea and tuatara to name a few. I must say hand feeding the red crowned kakariki is also a favourite with our team too. Funny enough if you were here on New Years Eve the team were especially elated having... More

A dismal visit to the Otorohanga Kiwi House in January 2011 resulted in my very first Trip Advisor review. I had responded to a request for feedback that was posted in the entrance to this attraction. I returned to The Kiwi House this week and the Trip Advisor request was still posted there. Thankfully, I can now submit a much... More

I cal this an 80/20 attraction, i.e 80% of the value of your visit comes from one main attraction. The rest of the park is interesting with plenty to see but I don't think you'd make a special trip and pay the entrance fee without the star attraction which is the solitary Brown Kiwi female. She has her own "moonlit"... More

The rest of the bird park is pretty average, but it's worth visiting just to see the Kiwis! There's one large female (very territorial) and 2 smaller males who were less active and a bit harder to spot. We luckily were present for the kiwi feeding which meant we got to hear a lot more about the birds and see... More

Great to hear you enjoyed some of the keeper talks held throughout the day. Unfortunately we are not able to allow cameras, phones or videos of the kiwi in our nocturnal houses as kiwi are extremely sensitive to any light disturbance (even the display screen on a smartphone) which can lead to excessive stress and ultimately health concerns over time....
