The church itself is pretty basic, only colonial style that you see in other towns in the region, but the view at the back of the church is special. Don´t forget to buy a "fita do bonfim", make a wish and tie it to the wall.

Lovely little church. I enjoyed visiting the room of the miracles and observed hundreds of photos and other objects and paintings offered as gratitude for a cure.

The church itself is beautiful, it was built in 1549! Then go behind the church to tie your colored ribbons and make wishes. They sell the ribbons 10 or 15 for $1BR all over town. I recommend going at sunset then walking around the town (make sure you go down both forks in the road for totally different shopping experiences).... More

This is a great local to learn more about Brazil. It is part of the local where Brazil really stated. Walk around, enjoy food and local craft!

Behind the church one can have a beautiful view of the beach and lots of coconut trees. There is also a wall where people make wishes. Next to the church there are a few shops (souvernirs, summer dresses, bathing suits, typical drinks etc) and a couple ice cream parlors. I recommend one called "uai uai". The ice cream there costs... Quiet place, when not visited by tourist buses. Great look over the beach and ocean from outside! The place breathes history.
