From where should I even start? Alexis being a super nice guy and an excellent guide, with Tequila (one of his horses) being the tip of the spear for the overall experience and just having a great time. Even though we had never ridden a horse before, Alexis like a true cowboy, made it look so easy. And it was! We had a smooth 5-hour ride inside the park, visiting a tobacco field ranch and speaking to the people there in order to understand their everyday life and the process of making cigars. What made the experience even better was the fact that Alexis had arranged for an English speaking tour guide, who was super fun and knowledgeable would just be an understatement. Be sure not to miss it. Vamo Tequila!!

Riding Vinales with Alexis and Tequila (the horse)

We are a family of four and did the five-hour tour with Alexis.
I was worried it was too long, but it was fine as there are several stops along the way, visiting the tobacco farm, the place for honey and coffee and local rum, a lunch stop, and the cave (where you can swim, but it's dark and not that inviting!). Take some extra Euros, because at lunch if you want some beers or to buy some honey or other items it costs extra. I bought some farmers cigars at Eur5 each.
I had never ridden a horse before, and my youngest daughter (five years old had done a few lessons previously in the UK).
The horses were excellent and well nourished. Alexis rode at the back, and I rode the horse Tequila in the front. Tequila knew exactly where to go (like he was in automatic mode) and that made it very easy. There was a special bond between Alexis and his horses, and he was able to call Tequila from the back of the group and Tequila would be listening and follow his commands.
If you can sit on a horse, then the horses do the rest - easy. My elder daughter is a competent rider and Alexis took her for a 5 minute separate run (canter?) while the rest of us looked on.
This was the highlight of our trip to Cuba, and I thoroughly recommend it. Alexis’ English is good and we gave him a tip at the end.

Highly recommend this tour!

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens) thoroughly enjoyed our day tour with Riding Viñales. The horses appeared well cared for, which was important to us. We enjoyed learning about the sustainable farming practices in this area and sampling some of the goods for ourselves. Our guide was very friendly. The scenery is breathtaking! Afterward, our driver made a wonderful recommendation for a restaurant in the national park with beautiful views and delicious food. You won't regret a day trip to Viñales!

Lovely tour day

Lovely tour day on horses, the views were stunning. We horse rode from just outside town to a tobacco farm and to a natural cave where we could have a swim. Our guide was very knowledgeable, told us about the history and plants of the valley. His horses were extremely well tamed, the two of us didn’t have any horse riding experience but felt safe and secured at all times. Recommended experience for everyone wanting a peaceful day in the nature outside of town.

Full day riding tour

There are a lot of horse riding stables in Viñales, but this is by far the best one! The horses are in perfect condition, well treated and well trained. The tour is individual and you can stay as long as you want at the different places visited (tabacco farm, lake, mountain paintings, etc.). Most other groups we passed during the day were large and we saw a lot of horses in very poor condition.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful and magical experience with Alexis! He is a very knowledgeable and kind tourguide, and his horses are very well trained, making us feel completely safe during the trip. We started our tour at 7am, enjoying the beautiful, sunny and waking up landscape of Vinales. Every minute of the tour was a gift: riding the horses, enjoying the fantastic views of the landscape, going to a cave, meeting farmers showing us how to make sugar drinks, coffee, honey and the way how people live in Vinales. All by all, it was a magical experience and a MUST do experience when you are visiting Vinales.

Amazing day around Vinales

The horses seem to be well looked after and healthy. The tour guide was very chatty and friendly and gave a lot of info about the area, what the famers were doing etc.

The farm that we visited was very nice, we saw how coffee was made and how cigars were made. We also had a great lunch there.

A horseriding trip is a must do in Vinales, we took a 5 hour trip which was a good length.

This was one of the best things we did in Cuba. The scenery is amazing and our guide was the best, he was very considerate of our riding ability's and made sure we felt comfortable at all times. He was happy for us to stop whenever for photos, water etc. He also took us to a create local farm where the owners were equally as nice.

The extra thing that makes this better than most of other horse riding places is that the horses look really well looked after. They are well fed and treated with respect. Some of the other horse we saw carrying people looked skinny and weak and they were whipped badly which we did not like seeing. I couldn't recommend this trip any more, it was so good!

Amazing experience

This is an amazing experience and a lovely way to see the Cuban countryside. Alexis is a great guide and the horses are clearly very well trained and cared for. We took a 5 hour ride and had no previous riding experience but the horses were very tame and knew the routes well. We got to spend time admiring the beautiful scenery, visited a cave in the mountains and had lunch and drinks at one of the local farms where we were also given an insight into farming in the region. Altogether this was one of the highlights of our trip to Cuba.

The best experience we had in Cuba! Alexis is an excellent guide and a great guy all around, and his horses are very gentle and seemed well taken care of. Even though we never rode a horse before, we didn't face any problems and were able to relax and enjoy the ride. What's more, when we told him that one of us doesn't speak Spanish, Alexis arranged for an English-speaking tour guide to join us (even though he speaks decent English himself). Stop reading reviews and go book a ride! You won't regret it!
