- Aiden C1 contributionExcellent rum and serviceWe came for a quick tasting session en route to the airport. All of the staff we encountered were welcoming, knowledgeable and made the experience light and fun. Needless to say the rum was also excellent and there were countless varieties to try. It cost $20pp (US) to do the standard tasting session (six rums plus a couple of bonus shots), which was sufficient for us given our limited timeframe. Afterwards, when they didn't have the ingredients to make the cocktail we ordered, the bartender made us one of their favourites instead (at their expense). They also helped to source us a taxi and locate and return my bag, which I realised I had left behind whilst on board said taxi. The distillery is situated around 10 minutes' drive from the airport. I would highly recommend paying them a visit on your way in/out of the island.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 16, 2023
- Jill W8 contributionsGreat afternoon at FoursquareHad a great afternoon at Foursquare. Dario the tour guide was very informative and interesting. He was fun to be with. He also ran the rum tasting and provided additional info along with the yummy rum. Bought some bottles to take home!Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 18, 2023
- GaryThornbury, United Kingdom8 contributionsA wonderful experience for rum loversOur cruise was visiting Barbados for the day, and as a rum fan and collector of Foursquare rum, I absolutely had to visit the distillery. I emailed Dario and he was tremendously helpful in working out how to get there and also arranging that we could take the afternoon tour, along with a group from another cruise. The tour was fascinating, and the whole experience just brilliant. After the tour, my wife and I had the full rum tasting experience of about 14 rums at the Copper Still Bar, through the whole range. Leah was our host for this and was so helpful in explaining all the rums and guiding us through the tasting. I also took the opportunity to buy some rums (not available at home) from the shop on site. If you are visiting Barbados and love rum, then by all means take the opportunity to visit this wonderful place.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 1, 2023
- Jennifer ASan Diego, California14 contributionsFun afternoon experienceWas not familiar with the distillery so tried the standard rum tasting. Very fun. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up purchasing some rum on site (and then some more at duty free). Would recommend a short afternoon visit. The property looked huge—we just hopped in and out though based on our timing/schedule.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 11, 2023
- Nb1239 contributionsGreat tour and great Rum!Great tour, not too long and questions were welcomed. Loved the tasting and this isn’t something I’d usually enjoy but I love how the lady (sorry forgotten her name) gave such great info about all of the rums and suggestions on what to drink with (wish I remembered now)! As purchased some rum afterwards - the spiced rum was my favourite. Thanks for a great day.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 17, 2023
- 840459 contributionsPerfect tour about the making of rumFour Square is one of 4 rum distilleries left on Barbados. Right now I enjoy a rum old fashioned in the bar of the Four Sqaure Rum Destillery Visitor Center. Before I followed an exclusive tour (just for me!) with Tamera for 80 barbados dollars (40 USD). It was a great tour with a lot of information. I'm ready to make my own rum 😀.Visited December 2023Traveled soloWritten December 19, 2023
- Y-M D7 contributionsGood tasting experience!Great visit to this distillery who produce some good names in Rums. Two of our party did the standard rum tasting with Janelle, who was friendly, fun and extremely knowledgeable about the products - advising how best to drink, with what and other uses for the rum in foods etc. Others of our group did the Limited Edition tasting and also had a great experience. Glad we visited, glad we tasted and even more pleased to have purchased some of those tasted to bring away with us.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 23, 2023
- Stephanka CRochester, New York7 contributionsGreat informative tour!We took the tour and both tastings, general and premium, a couple of days ago. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Great time spent learning and tasting. Tamera was our guide and her knowledge of the distilling process and Foursquare’s history was excellent. Thank you for a great experience.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 10, 2024
- Sarah WNottingham, United Kingdom7 contributionsRum tasting with DarioReally enjoyed our afternoon here. Did a quick self tour of the distillery and then paid for a rum tasting which was delivered by Dario. Dario was great, very knowledgable, fun and chose rums to taste based on our likes which I thought was cool. I’d definitely recommend 👌Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 18, 2024
- Shiney36Solihull, United Kingdom69 contributionsAn insight in to how rum is made,The web site and information to get to this place was somewhat confusing. The Sam Lord bus and getting off at 6 Roads provides a walk on the flat, on decent paths for about 20 minutes. If you are fit this walk is not a challenge so do not let others say otherwise. A taxi ride of $30 from Oistins will get you to the rum factory. On arriving at the distillery you can walk around on your own for free, and you will see the site. At 10am and 14.00hrs there are tours. $50 dollars and $80 dollars depending on if you want to sample the rare rums in stock. The tour takes about 45 minutes and the lovely Tamira was on hand to answer any question that is asked. After the tour there is a talk on the different rums and the opportunity to sample and purchase a bottle of rum. Please try the rum cream liqueur as an alternative for the whiskey drink that is similar. My party and I were looked after favourably by the team at the distillery. Every person we spoke to, had time for us, and this included the finance man who just bumped into us and the man dealing with the delivery of molasses. A great visit to this place and it is recommended. Not for children. This is not a history tour and does not talk about slavery and its impact on the rum trade.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 9, 2024

We had a small bit of confusion about which entrance to drive in for the tour, but figured that out quickly. Drive in the tree-lined laneway and park at the far end of the lane. The public entrance to the factory is there; the tasting room and bar is outside the factory at the tour exit.
The self-guided tour is interesting and fairly quick. It is a modern, working distillery.
The rum tasting is well worth the cost of US$10. We got to try many rums as well a liqueur and some different ways of mixing it with beer. The bartender, Lea, made the tasting lots of fun and very informative. She's funny and also highlights the differences between the rums and advises on the best ways to enjoy them.

Today ( 6th January) was our fourth visit to Foursquare and we were disappointed due to the poor customer service of the current bartender. During previous visits the last bartender (found out today that she has now left) was fantastic with brilliant customer service, which is why today was visit number 4. During previous visits we had also bought bottles of rum due to how knowledgeable the bartender was so today, we wanted to continue to support Foursquare. However, this visit the bartender seemed to ignore us when we wanted to order cocktails in favour of the patrons who had paid for the tour and tasting.
We waited as advised by the bartender for the tasting to be over and then went to the bar to try and place our order but received no acknowledgment. Although we had not paid for a tasting (we have done tastings on previous visits) we did buy various bottles of rum, as gifts totalling appx $130.00. So, as paying customers who were willing to spend more money the service we received was unacceptable.
After such an excellent time during our last 3 visits with fantastic cocktails and an equally fantastic bartender, it was a shame this visit was so poor. The current bartender was rather rude and seemed uninterested as we were not part of the tour party and after waiting ages for service we left.
We will not return to Foursquare. Its a shame as the previous bartender whose father made the rum punch was brilliant and we loved chatting her. We also wanted to continue to support a family run Bajan business, but today was a very disappointing visit.

Hey Cece, thanks for sharing your feedback.
While I am truly happy to know that the last bartender gave fantastic and brilliant customer service (hence why this was your 4th visit with us) I am truly sorry that your experience this time did not match your expectations. It is an uncommon instance and your comments have been discussed at length with our team. I can assure you that we will do better in the future.
I hope you will give us another chance so you can enjoy the excellent experience we are known for.

A delightful Rum Distillery housed in the remains of an old sugar factory. The self guided tour was informative with signs all through that explain the process. The best part is the Rum Tasting at the bar. The host, Leah, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The Rums are available for sale at just below the best prices we have seen elsewhere. Our favorite was the Doorleys XO. My wife liked the look of the R.L.Seale bottle

We did the self guided tour or Foursquare distillery, it was very interesting with information signs explaining the distillery process. Then we did a premium rum tasting with Deborah, she was very knowledgeable about the rums, she has very friendly and we had some laughs while enjoying some great rum. It's also less touristy than some of the other distilleries on the island.

Guided tours are given on weekdays at 10 & 2. It may be advisable to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. We actually came here as an alternate choice as the attraction we had planned to go to was unexpectedly closed that day. Our driver called and verified that they were giving a tour, so we headed over and arrived about 15 min. early and we able to get on the tour. About 15 people showed up for our tour. A bottle of water is included with your tour.
The tour itself is interesting. Upon arrival, we were able to watch workers extracting juice from the sugarcane. Then, you are shown the historic scale and weigh station where the farmers brought in their crops and the dump pit they took the cane to and hoist which lifted the cane out of the pit and into the distillery. The historic pit has now been converted into an amphitheater and is filled with historic photographs. Then, you go into the distillery and can see the still, vats of fermenting alcohol, and barrel storage room. They also bottle spring water here and most interestingly have equipment which captures the carbon emissions and sells them to other manufactures who can use them. You are allowed to take photographs in all locations. Driving in is a great spot to get photos of the sugarcane fields. They also have a folk museum that you can tour on your own, but it was closed the day we were there.
You have the choice to purchase the regular tasting which includes the rums that they currently have for sale, or the premium tasting which is more expensive and includes limited edition rums that are not for sale. I personally don't understand why you would want to sample a product that you can't buy if you like it. Regular tasting included samples of 6 rums and their cream liquor, which we loved and bought a bottle of. Oddly though, they did not wrap the bottle or even offer a bag to put it in.
We toured three rum facilities while on the island and each one gave you different insights. This is worth a stop so one can learn about the rum heritage of the island you are visiting.

We did the walking through the distillery ourselves and it was ok but nothing really special. It was nice though to see a real modern distillery and not only a visitor centre. The rum tasking was well made and should definitely be on a bucked list with 6 different rums. One employee agreed to drive us to the airport for a small fee but a taxi would have taken the same and we didn't have to wait for one to arrive.

We happened to show up at an off time from scheduled tours but Lea was so kind to take us on a tour of the facility, explained the entire process, and was an excellent host during our tasting. We visited two other rum distilleries on the island but this one by far was our best and most intimate experience. Oh and the rum is amazing. I think I may need a larger bag to go home. 😁 would highly recommend this place and sampling their award winning rum!

The distillery is in an former sugar factory. There are a lot of history in these walls. The propriety is very nice and they grow their own sugar canes. The tasting was very generous, they let you sample about every product they make and the prices are reasonable for the quality.

We opted for Four Square as it is a working distillery, as opposed to two or three others on the island. It's all quite tranquil, laid back and informal, and we walked round with our driver.
We didn't want to do the full tasting each, as we were going on a rum shack tour straight after, so in the Copper Still Bar at the Distillery, Janelle kindly let us share. It was fascinating to hear her sommelier-like summaries of the six samples they offered us, and based on her recommendation of Old Brigand as the best and most popular when having with cola / ginger beer etc, we duly switched to that from another local provider for the rest of the holiday.

Arrived to find the distillery deserted, most of the buildings appeared to be under renovation and were closed. We walked around the distillery building, very few signs or information. On entering the tasting room the two staff members were eating lunch on the bar counter and basically ignored us. When asked about tours we were told that they were only available by appointment but we could do a self. guided tour. There was no maps or literature available. After waiting outside for 30 minutes while they finished lunch we went back in for a very disappointing tasting. They was no Foursquare rum available for tasting or for sale, only Doorlys (made by Foursquare). The numerous bottles of Foursquare rum being displayed were all reserved. After paying $25 for 5 small tastes of rum I did purchase 4 bottles but only because it had taken us nearly two hours of buses and walking to get there. Reading the other review's maybe it is better if you are part of a organised tour group. This was our first disappointment after a two week stay in Barbados.

Thank you for your feedback Rolie123
We’re sorry to learn that you were disappointed with your visit and that our staff didn’t meet the level of service we strive for.
There might have been a misunderstanding with the Foursquare rums for sale and tasting. All rums are available for tasting. There is a general tasting which includes ‘our’ rum brands available for everyday purchase, and there is also a tasting for our Foursquare Exceptional Cask Rums which are vintages.
The vintages are released every year and when available there are included in the general tasting.
The Distillery is open to the public for free or you can have a Guided Tour ($45bds) inclusive of tasting.
The Guided Tours are 11am or 2pm and needs to be booked at least the 24hrs in advance.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
