About
We are a 15 inch gauge miniature railway offering rides of a mile length around the Marine Lake in Rhyl which we have been doing since 1911. We still have the first loco that opened the railway on 1st May 1911 and we also operate some of the locos that were built between 1920 and 1926 to replace the two original locos after they were found to be too small. So on the steam loco front we have Prince Edward of Wales (1911) Joan (1920) Railway Queen (1921) Michael (1924) and Cagney (c1910). We also have a diesel loco called Clara (1961) and our Tram (1970). We also have Billy (1926) on display in our museum which is owned by the council. We run every weekend from Easter till end of sept and then school hols with us open everyday for the summer hols. We also have special event through the year at Easter, the second bank hols in May and the first weekend of Aug and our Santa Trains near Christmas.
Duration: 2-3 hours

    Brilliant
The staff are so friendly here and the railway a real pleasure to travel on, plus don't miss the excellent museum. The workshop was also open during my visit and nothing was too much trouble for the staff in the shop or on the trains. Dogs travel fro free and get a doggy treat, humans pay £3.50 for one circuit of the lake which is pretty big and enjoyable. When we visited they were running a diesel loco on Friday and Saturday with the steam engine on the Sunday. The service becomes daily with more steam rides as school holidays occur. More details on their website. Operating days 10 am to 4 pm Station also includes toilet facilities

    Great fun for little money
Friendly staff, well priced and great fun for the children. Nice wee shop too with crab nets and bait for use in the adjacent marine pool - great fun. Highly recommended!

    Delightful
Very affordable and well situated. Had a small museum about trains on site. The train comes every 10 minutes so its a very short wait you can pass with an ice cream or coffee from the shop. We rode Clara and it was delightful. It is however somewhat weather-dependent as was open topped.

    Great little day
We came for the day last week and all 3 children loved it, a lovely day out. The train was great and not too expensive. My eldest son loves trains and loved the museum room, my youngest loved the Thomas train in there too. The park is brilliant and we all loved crabbing on the lake. Brilliant way to spend the day.

    Great day and brilliant experience.
We took 2 of our grandchildren on the ride. The experience started very well with goody bags for the girls and mince pies for us. All the staff were extremely helpful and in christmas mode. The train went twice round the loop and we were met after 1 loop with an elf spraying "snow" on the train as we entered the station. After the ride, Santa's elves directed us to see Santa ( neither of the girls knew about this part!). Santa and his helper were fantastic and the girls were so enthralled! The presents Santa gave them ( individually named!) were opened at home and both loved them! Thanks to all for a fantastic experience, you nailed it!

Excellent wayto start the Christmas Celebrations
Had another wonderful Christmas experience on tge Rhyl Minature Christmas Santa Train. We went around Marine Lake twice and as we went through the station for tge second lap we were sprayed with snow adding to the fun. Everyone is sat in carriages. Then once back in the station we then met Santa & the Elves. Santa was wonderful with our little granddaughter & in turn she was made up with her gift. Thank you to all at the Rhyl Marine Lake Railway.

    Santa train
Family Santa train ticket. Really reasonable price. No wait time and a warm welcome from the elf's. We all enjoyed the little train and santa's grotto. The gifts were fantastic and very well selected for the age. Very well organised

    10/10 Christmas Experience
This was a great little experience. My son loves this railway anyway, and was absolutely buzzing to go on Christmas Eve. It was well organised, and the staff were very friendly. We got a little bag with drinks and snacks in for the two trips round on the railway. Then we got to meet Santa and my son got a proper present from him as well. 10/10 would definitely recommend

We went on the train (twice) on their opening day since the Covid19 lockdown.

It was great to ride on the trains again.

There is now a one way system in the station as well as protective screens between groups in the carriages. Staff were also seen to clean carriage handles between rides.

This trip is a must for any train enthusiast.

The kids loved this miniature railway. It goes around a large lake and lasts approx 10 mins. It’s not expensive either. The only downside is that it’s in a rundown area of Rhyl and there’s not much else to do there.

Amazing miniature railway for all ages. £3 for adults and £2 for children. Diesel trains on weekdays and steam train at weekends. Even though we were all "adults" everyone enjoyed the 10 minute ride around the lake.

We told my son (he is 2 btw) we'd being seeing the little train and he pestered us all day. He loved going on it and begged us to go back later that day and on the way home on the Sunday. I dont think he will forget it anytime soon. Its a sweet little ride around a small lake and is throughly cleaned from what my partner saw so that's reassuring to know during these times of covid. Safe and, fun little thing to do. We also looked into the museum part and the know it all he is, was telling me all the train parts were.

Glad your son had such a good time with us, hope you did too. Its great to hear that he loved his time with us. We always make sure we clean the coaches between trips and then deep clean at end of day too.

Lovely day out at Marine park... from miniature railway to crabbing to free park. There's a shop that sells hot drinks, cold drinks sweets. Price of the railway is worth the trip round the lake, an experience the saying (been there, done that). My 2 youngest girls love going on again whereas my eldest daughter said I've done it lol.

A nice outing but doesn’t take more than an hour or two. The little train is sweet and it’s a pleasant 5 minute ride around the lake. There’s a nice playground for young children. If you want to go crabbing be aware that it is not safe with small children. There is quite a drop and no barrier between you and the water. Also, we took our normal kid’s fishing nets which were no use at all because of the drop to the water. Buy the special ones that they sell. A nice place to spend an hour or so but wouldn’t return.
