The history and commercial successes of Porthmadog are set out in easily grasped detail within the walls of this former slate wharf shed. There's a surprising amount to see as regards slate handling, ship building and rope making that in former times provided much local...More

Lovely interesting museum with personal stories, varied exibits including a little ship's galley. There's a children's corner and a number of hands on exhibits including a morse code museum. There's a very small ship, and it's inexpensive to get in - you could happily while...More

This is an excellent little museum staffed by enthusiastic local amateurs. If you go in knowing nothing about Porthmadog you will come out knowing all you need to know to enhance your visit to the town. Lots of naive paintings of local ships and photos...More

For a small maritime museum, the Porthmadog museum is pretty cool. There are interactive exhibits for the kid in us all, kind staff, and some pretty neat history. It's not a place to spend an entire afternoon - it's a bit too small for that...More

Walking up from the car park in Porthmadog, we walked past the Maritime Museum. Only a small charge to enter an interesting little sea faring museum, or free to view the large maritime relics outside. A good way to spend a few minutes out of...More

What a fabulous place to visit. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the town. They kept us enthralled for the whole time we were there. Can only recommend this place as a must see when in the area.
