Simply fantastic! How do you express in words when something you’d been looking forward to for more than two years happens? Jordi was an EXCELLENT tour guide! He cared for every serial and was so nice to communicate with while planning the trip. The sunset wine tasting was nothing short of breathtaking with excellent wines. We learned so much about the wines of Priorat. The next day he drove us to our hike with Maricela and to the plateau village of Siruana. It was so great! On both the drive and the hike we learned so much about the history of the country, the wine makers and the terroir. So educational. Jordi felt like family and we can’t imagine our experience here without his wisdom and help and incredible spirit.

We went to visit Celler Devinssi following a lot of recommendations on google and I have to say they were absolutely right! There are different options, and we opted for the pica-pica experience (3 tastes of wine + some food to eat together with it).

Jordi welcomed us as soon as we arrived and he was also so kind to reschedule our visit due to a delay we had when leaving Barcelona. He brought us in the vineyards where we sit on a table and we started the wine tasting surrounded by a beautiful landscape of the vineyard and the city of Gratallops. The location was really lovely and the food very good (all local - cheese, bread, ham, olives...) and Jordi was such a nice person that made the experience even more worth it. We really appreciated his genuine passion and his very friendly personality, as you can really tell the passion that there is in each bottle of wine you are tasting.
Unfortunately it started to rain, so we have to finish the tasing inside the winery but it was still nice. We visited the celler where they age the wine and the room where they make it and see all the equipment used for production. It is impressive to see how much work there is behind that has to be carry on by few people.

We tasted some very good and interesting wines Mas de les Valls (red and white) and IL·LIA, this last one being my favorite. I totally recommend the experience and especially Jordi, a lovely and funny person that really transmits you the passion behind what they do in Cellar Devinssi. Also, if you have the possibility take a look at the surrounding area (Jordi has very good suggestions) but if you don't have time, just drive a bit around and have a look at the different vineyards of Priorat, as the landscape is very suggestive.

Dear Giulia, Thank you for such a detailed account of your experience with Celler Devinssi. Yes, the sudden rain was a bit of a shame. Precisely these days we're working on a project to solve the weather-related issues for outdoor tastings (stay tuned!). We're also happy to know that you enjoyed the experience anyway and that it has kindled your interest in Priorat! Kind regards, Jordi

My partner and I did an early morning tour at Devinssi with Jordi and it was one of our highlights during our visit to the Priorat region!

First, it was helpful (for planning purposes) to see that there are opportunities for a visit at 9 AM or 10 AM before the sun gets too hot. Since many wineries are open at 11 AM, doing a tour so early is almost like a "bonus." This tour starts your day off and with a visit at one of the highest plots of land in the region providing a great distal end ambience. Out of nine wineries that we went to in the region, this was the only drive into the vineyards that we had. It’s a bit more of a “hands on” experience of seeing the grapes in the field and the differences between them.

This winery is small relative to some of the others in Priorat, but punches above its weight in terms of quality and low yield, resulting in some wines with structure and uniqueness.

Jordi was a very good host and he has great communication via WhatsApp. He offered plenty of suggestions of other wineries to visit, which was also very helpful. (I also think he does private day-long tours but we did not do that, though I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that as well.)

Absolutely would recommend a visit to Devinssi to experience a more local offering and not a big exporter that you may find in the shop at home.

Dear friends, thanks a lot for visiting Celler Devinssi and for the thoughtful account of your experience! I'd particularly thank you for the careful planning of your stay in Priorat, which is vital if a visitor wants to enjoy the area to the full. For future visitors reading this: I take on this topic in detail in the article called "Priorat Travel Guide: How To Plan a Trip To Priorat Spain" on Winetraveler.com (google it). Seeing the vineyards appears to be an insightful experience, particularly in such a rugged place like here in Priorat. This helps you understand the high production cost that DOQ Priorat wines incur. I'm very glad you enjoyed spending time at our place! Hope to host you here some day again soon! Kind regards, Jordi

Wonderful! We choose the pica-pica wine tasting and vineyard tour. It was an absolutely gorgeous wine tasting experience. Jordi was our guide and he drove us out to the vineyards where we were then provided nibblings of cheese, meats, pan de tomate and nuts. We tried 4 wines, ate and enjoyed a spectacular view. Jordi was very knowledgeable, communicative and fun to have as our guide. Afterwards we went to see the process of their wine making. The wines were delicious! We strongly suggest you try the Rocapoll, it’s spectacular. We tried our very first white Priorat. We do not care for white wines much but this Priorat will be the white we will drink… Such fullness, structure and flavor! If you are a lover of red it’s a white that will please you. I strongly recommend a visit and tasting to this vineyard.

We took a quick weekend away in Gratallops when lockdown eased up and managed to do a tasting with Devinssi which was in Gratallops close to our hotel. We had a great few hours with Jordi who picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to see the vineyards in the surrounding area so we could learn about the interesting Priorat area. After that we had a lovely wine tasting in their cellar in the middle of town which was really nice with a great variety of wines. Jordi was a lovely host, the wine tasting was fantastic value for money and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting this amazing area!

Hello Stuart, Thanks for your visit last month and for the detailed account of the experience. Yes, if the hotel is within our town, picking you up there is the easiest start for the visit. I am very glad you enjoyed the wine tasting, the views and the region in general. Will be happy to host you again. Kind regards, J.

I got a text from Jordi saying ”Let's meet at the large pine-tree with two wolves at the entrance to the village.”
And from there it was just like the Movies. Jordi drove us in his charming delivery van, waving to his yoga teacher while explaining the quirks of the village life. Suddenly he takes off straight in to the wine fields. We bounced up and down in the back seat while we could touch the grapevines thruogh the open window. After some really steep turns accompanied by Jordis humorous comments, we landed at a gorgeous height in the middle of the Devinissi vineyard. We got out on unstable legs, astonished by the beautiful landscape. Jordi had prepared the wine tasting at an old wooden picnic table. From a cool bag that reminded me of my childhood he dredged up a white and two red bottles for us to share. Together with the outstanding Priorat wine and dry crackers Jordi served some stories to remember for a long time.

My husband and I did the pica pica tasting with Jordi at the beautiful Devinssi vineyard. It was a wonderful experience! Jordi was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. We learned a ton about the local geography, history, and characteristics of the wine. The location is stunning. We absolutely recommend this experience for wine lovers of all levels. Thank you to Jordi for such a great morning!

We decided to ask for a little wine tour just a day before(normally people plan such activities a bit in advance), but Jordi was very good in communication and we agreed on time.
So, about the visit, it was amazing part of our trip, Jordi showed us wine yards, told the story about the region, grape, wine, areas around, we also visited a little cellar and of course did a degustation. The wines have very intense taste, each type is special and worth attention.
Jordi is a real expert, who can make your trip to Priorat wine yards super interesting and charming. Thanks a lot! Once we have a chance - we will definitely come back for new experience!

Wine tasting was done in the vineyard, where there are a couple of picnic tables in a fresh air with magnificent views. Being there at sunset definitely added to the experience. Jordi is a very accommodating host and has plenty to tell about the region and the winemaking there. The winery itself is very small and is located a tiny old building in the Gratallops village. Communications with Jordi were easy and efficient. He responded quickly, which made organizing the visit quite simple -- not a typical situation in Priorat, where we had zero response from several wineries we tried to contact. The wines at Devinssi are representative of the lower altitudes of the region and felt softer relative to some other we tasted. Overall very enjoyable time. I can definitely recommend.

The wine maker, Jordi, is exceptionally friendly and a great host. Unfortunately it was one of the few days of rain the Priorat gets so we couldn’t taste in the vineyards, but the cellar tour made for a great replacement.
Amazing to appreciate the true nature of Priorat wine and the beauty of a small artisan winery!
