Downtown of Ribeira Grande is a charming place. Perfect for a romantic walk on a bright sunny day.
Stop your car close to Igreja do Divino Espirito Santo so you can admire both that beautiful lovely church and visit the main sqare and Ribeira Grande's Bridge in a few minutes.

Drive to the Centro where there is a large square. There are beautiful huge trees and many cafes we bought lunch from a roulote- humongous sandwiches with meat and chips so big you could hardly eat the for 2.5 euros. We ate in the square where you can get a good view of the bridge and several churches. Explore some of the lanes and it is just a short walk to the water.

Ribera Grande is a very pretty town on the north of Sao Miguel island in the Azores with the amazing river canyon and bridge as it's centre piece.

This was a brief stop on a day tour and the town is very well maintained with quaint narrow streets and the delightful river and bridge in the centre.

We called in to see the modern eight arch bridge over a river, easy to find particularly when leaving the town for the south. The Eight arches are particularly attractive and one can sit in the seating area below and admire the eight arch bridge one way and a much smaller traditional bridge the other. Not one for going out of your way to see but if you're in the area worth a quick photo snap at least.

Nice little place in Ribeira Grande with lots of different views of water and bridge. Take a walk down towards the ocean.

Viewed from the road into Ribeira Grande and also from the lovely garden’s adjacent to the town square, this impressive viaduct is set of with a backdrop of the Atlantic.

It crosses a river that runs into the Atlantic. With 8 arches it had become a symbol of the city and as such is featured on the coat of arms of the city, which can be seen on the facade of the municipal building in the square

This beautiful bridge in the town of Riberia Grande was very obvious when looking out to the direction of the ocean. We did not get too close to it but it really added certain charm to the small town.

It is a bridge and a nice place, but that is just about it. Not much to see and parking can be a bit difficult due to the crowded area.
