Very nice and tasty store... We bought there some bottles to take over all the way to Israel - 9 hours flight. To see the president of Portugal in a photo visiting the place was nice. The woman - seller was very nice to the customers.

We stopped in the outlet, which is just a minute from the central square. The woman working there was very pleasant, and poured us several samples of the liquors available. They also have little tourist trinkets that are hand made, not manufactured outside of the country.

Boy is the Fabrica de Licores hard to find! We were doing concentric circles all over town trying to find this place. My beloved husband does not ask for directions!! By some enormous stroke of luck we drove right by the building. Apparently in May the production workers are on holiday. So, the gal from the office and the two of us were there all by ourselves. She showed us the wooden barrels in the production area and a tiny souvenir area. I had read about the small Portugese figures bottles. That is really why i wanted to go there. I bought three: a man in a black star wars looking outfit, a woman in traditional Portuguese dress, and a woman in the capote (Mulher de Capote). Now I can't bear to give any of them away. Really cute. We also bought a regular sized bottle of the cream liqueur for our own consumption on the island. My husband later saw a bottle in a grocery store and he swears it was half the price.
I thought I had photos of the little bottles. I will add those later in case someone else thiks they are a cute souvenir.

I'm rather a wine lover person yet I really enjoyed our visit to Mulher de Capote.
Free tasting is available. As I adore passion fruit my favourite type is unquestionable however pineapple and black berry liqueur was fine too. The most unique one was made of MILK! :)
Prices are more or less the same on the whole island (at least in the shops we've been to) but it is very likely that one can find the largest selection here.

Hard to find, great place to sample and buy. Fabrica de Licores A Mulher de Capote, Rua do Berquo n 10, Ribeira Grande, 296 472 831. Store located at Rua Goncalo Bezerra, n 13, Ribeira Grande for purchase of the cute souvenir bottles of blackberry and tangerina. They have other flavors, too. Those were are favorites. They have larger sizes, too. Smaller are easier to pack. Use liquors over ice cream, add as flavoring to breads, reduce to make sauce for desserts.

As far as a place to "visit", there's not really much to see here - no tours or anything.
But as a local distiller, if you're in the area or driving through, would definitely recommend stopping.
The owner is super-friendly, and once you're inside you'll be slightly stunned at the number of products they produce. That's often not necessarily a good sign - but I sampled several, and quite a few were excellent.
It's worth it just to have the Goshawk Gin. This is a superb gin - and their different aromatic offerings are a treat. (The tangerine makes for a wonderful G&T.)
The passion fruit liqueur is also good - well-balanced with not too much sugar.
Some of the other products aren't quite up to rave standards - but that's also very much a personal choice I realise. Someone had mentioned the 20-year old brandy (it's not a Cognac), which was fairly complex.
All in all, definitely stop by. Ask for weenie pours and a pit glass if you're driving - they're generous with the tastings! :-)

It was nice to see the storage area full of barrels and to taste the products. However, I expected more from a visit to a liqueur factory. They could offer a guided or even an unguided tour of the production facilities with some interesting facts about the production process. I don’t know if they do this for organized groups, but it certainly wasn’t an option for individual visitors. Moreover, I find it unfair to have higher prices inside the factory than in supermarkets. For example, a bottle of their Arroz Doce liqueur was priced at 10 euros at the factory and available for 7 euros in Ponta Delgada supermarkets.

After walking into the building, one of the staff stopped what he was doing to give us a private tour. We went through the liquor making process, and then ended with tastings (seemed like as many as you wanted). Then you had the opportunity to make a purchase if you wanted. Excellent value, very informative, fun, and this liquor is sold all around Sao Miguel, so it's fun to visit the factory!

Há uma loja na Lisboa perto da Praça do Comercio com tudos os productos regionais dos Açores. Penso que o seu nome era Mercado dos Açores.
