My friend and I wanted to explore the fjords and found the 3 day kayak/hike/kayak trip with Norwegian Ventures through Much Better Adventures. It was a really good deal with activities, accommodation and food all included.
Our guide Tachelle was excellent throughout the trip. We had an incredibly wet and cold weekend so it made everything a little harder but she was a great motivator, lots of fun and kept everybody very well fed. I heard a rumour that she's the best cook out of all the guides!
They certainly do not starve you which is good considering the level of physical exertion you're doing. Food ranged from eggs and bacon for breakfast, cake for snacks, BBQ for dinner plus the ever present option of teas and coffees.
I would recommend taking a hard look at the kitlist recommend on MBA's website, particularly waterproofs. I bought everything on the list and bought some extra warm stuff and everything was used. The only thing missing from the list (which I also did not think of) was a waterproof cover for your daypack/hiking pack.
The kayaking was great, very beautiful way to see the fjords and not particularly long stints. The hike was definitely the most physically taxing part. On our day, due to multiple complications, it took almost 12 hours to leave, summit and come back to camp. The route is not particularly technical but just very long and over a quite varied terrain. Shout out to Craig for helping me down when my bad ankle started playing up as we headed back down from the summit.
All on all, an amazing experience. We met really good people throughout and had a really fun type 2 trip with lots of jokes throughout.
If you're up for a challenge in the fjords, in the safe hands of Norwegian Ventures, I would fully recommend.

My friend and I went on the Kayak Day tour and got a fantastic experience from it.
Jordan, our instructor and guide, took good care of us with everything from kayak gear and safety instructions to interesting facts and knowledge about the Fjord. Jordan made everyone feel really safe and in good company during the whole trip 😊 My friend had never been kayaking before and that wasn’t an issue either.
Would definitely recommend Nordic Ventures to anyone interested ✌🏻

The 3 day fjord kayaking / hiking tour with our guide Craig exceeded all my expectations. The Nærøyfjord is stunningly beautiful to kayak through, with some waterfalls everywhere. We took a few nice pit stops to soak in the views and enjoy freshly prepared meals and hot coffee/tea prepared by our guide. The camping location was unbeatable. You couldn't ask for a better view to spend two evenings around a campfire with freshly prepared meals and a few surprise extras amenities! The hike on day two was quite demanding, but our guide Craig tailored the route to our experience level to make an extra pit stop near the summit and get a second view of the fjord below. The view from the summit was another beauty to behold and we enjoyed a nice break with our second lunch of the day. I was with a group of 5, and the tour group was 11 in total. Everyone in the group was very sociable and cross-cultural, making for a enjoyable conversation around the campfire. Our guide, Craig, ticked all the boxes of a professional tour guide by going beyond just bringing us to our destination and making sure we had the bare necessities. He interacted well with each person in the group, tailoring his communication to make sure that everyone felt comfortable and was enjoying their experience and bringing a personal and caring attitude. Also, he was able to share some interesting insights about the area and ecology. Going beyond the necessities, Craig prepared a few extra nice surprises that seemingly came out of nowhere during the kayaking, on the hike, and at the campsite. Overall, 5 star trip and tour company! Thanks again Craig and Nordic Ventures for the once in a lifetime experience.

What a shambles.
Granted the weather was terrible which makes trips like this disappointing as you go for the views but the planning was worse than poor.
420 British pounds is a joke for the "3 day" event. You spend 2 hours on the first day in the kayak, that's broken down by an hour for lunch. This was a pointless stop as it was hammering it down with rain, windy and cold, and the "camp site" was only 30 mins away from this spot. When we got to the site, the tents were just getting dropped off, surely in this weather which was forecasted, the tents should have been put up in advance, instead we had to put them up in the wind and rain.
The evening was standing around a fire that was made from charcoal, which I had to light with a blow torch as all wood was wet, surely some preparation for dry wood would have been a good idea. No seats were available so we were all standing under a tarpaulin which was taped together due to the kit being well past it sell by date. This leaked along with all the other kit, that was provided, waterproofs, tents, all old and terrible condition. The atmosphere was miserable and the guide wasn't the best at trying to get the buzz going, everyone went to their tent at around 20:30.
Up at 07:00, sleep was horrendous as most tents leaked, ground was muddy and horrendous weather troughout the night. Didn't leave until 08:30 as a party was late getting up so we again were stood under the tarpaulin in the rain, getting cold. The guide took us on a hike but really didn't seem to know where we were going, me and the other party decided not to ascend as the weather was torrential rain, poor visibility and the views were awful so didn't want to waste our time going up. None of the others reached the summit, and as expected, they all said views were poor.
On their return and having sat in the camp site all day waiting for their return with no wood to light a fire, the lunch the same as the day before, I decided to pull the plug and was greeted by being patronised to "open my mind". There was no way I was going back into my wet tent and standing around underneath a tarpaulin for another night. 4 in total left the event and got taken back to the start.
We were honest about the experience which went down like a lead fart and no response was given.
In all terrible, the trip should have been cancelled.
The guide had poor ability to make the group unified, poor planning, all in all a total train smash.
DO NOT BOOK!

Simple four hour guided kayak trip. Paddled five (ish) kilometesr from Gudevangen where we had lunch/dinner (delicious chicken wraps) and the same 5 km back. It was amazing. Beautiful weather, very friendly and competent guide that could tell us interesting things things about the area and help us stay safe (which btw is easy, just avoid the very few but really dangerous areas where rocks can fall on you, and avoid get hit by ferries). Price was about 1000 NOK, which included the food and all the equipment you need: Kayak, waterproof box/bags for phones/cameras, life jacket. If the weather had been bad we would have used wetsuits, but the weather was fantastic so I used sunscreen instead.
Fair warning: At times it was a little difficult keeping the kayak straight even thought the water was completely flat. Reason: The area is so jawdroppingly gorgeous that it's hard to stay focused as something as mundane as keeping the kayak levelled. According to the guide it _had_ happened that people had capsized their kayaks while looking around, and I absolutely believe it. You have been warned :-)
Best spent money in a long time. Highly recommended.

This was one of the greatest adventure holidays I have has the pleasure of being on. To begin with, my partner booked us this trip in 2020 and the company was very accommodating when we needed to reschedule due variations in travelling restrictions that have been occurring over the last two years.
The experience itself was invigorating with amazing views, fun kayaking excursions and a challenging but rewarding hike up a mountain. We were very fortunate with the weather but even with the rain on our last day, its was still an amazing experience to kayak and explore.
Although exploring the Fjords is an amazing experience in itself, I think it was the team at Nordic Ventures that consolidated my enjoyment of the trip. We had the pleasure of having Jonny Innes be our guide, and he was an absolute star. He prepared fresh meals every day and even went the extra mile to accommodate my vegan needs, with varied and filling meals to provide the energy for the days activities. And I like a lot of food! I was really appreciative of the fact that I had my own meal set up with desserts and snacks included, and I was never made to feel left out which was a very appreciated factor. He contributed to the great vibe of the people we shared our experience with, he was knowledgeable about kayaking and the Fjords in general, you felt safe in his care and his penguin and airplane joke is one of the greatest things Ive ever heard!
So a big thank you to Jonny and the team of Nordic Ventures as this was an absolutely fantastic experience that will cherish with my partner, and no doubt we will be back. Very highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

We did the three day kayak and hiking tour with Craig and overall the experience was great. The kayaking was at a pace which was appropriate for the group most of which were inexperienced kayakers. The food provided was above expectations for camping and the location of the overnight stay was incredible with amazing views of the fjord. I injured myself in a previous hike so was unable to do the hike the second day, but the group seemed to enjoy the hike. The gear we were provided was of high quality. Craig was knowledgeable, responsible, personable and it was great to have him as our guide on this experience. For future travelers, be prepared for weather changes and have some extra dry clothes in case you experience rain or get wet. Overall I highly recommend this tour if you like adventure and for an amazing camping experience on the beautiful fjord.

Had the most amazing weekend on this tour, doing both a kayak and a hike mean that your able to experience the forjod from two totally different vantage points, and the place is unbelievably stunning, I've never seen so many waterfalls!!
With these things, as I think it often is, it was the group of people that took this trip from being great to amazing, everyone was lovely, up for it and super syked which made so much difference. We lucked out massively with Tachelle as a guide (not only because she's the best cook out of all the guides), she is super knowledgeable about the place and worked so so hard to keep us in good spirits with her unlimited amounts of positive energy and the never ending treats that she would pull out (carrot cake, marshmallows, soup). She also had a great respect for the forjord and the environment is so important she was so keen for us to leave to trace and respect the forjord to.
If you are going to do this (which clearly I recommend you do) pay attention to the kit list, it rains here a lot, and even in June there was a ton of snow on the hike and you walk through rivers well past the top of your boots.. this massive adds to the feeling of adventure and gives great stories to talk about when your back at camp but I could imagine could really take the shine off the trip if your soaking wet and have no ability to get dry

Where do I even begin? Beyond impressed with Nordic Ventures and the enthusiasm and wisdom that our guide Craig brought to the experience. As a leader of an outdoor touring company from the states, I brought a group of 12 teenagers on the 3 day itinerary of kayaking and hiking. Craig greeted our kids with a playlist that got everyone motivated, and continued to bring an infectious positive energy that created a joyous group environment. Additionally, as an instructor myself, I learned some invaluable leadership skills from him. He struck the right balance of empowering students through responsibility, setting clear boundaries, and making jokes/having fun. Our students were thrilled by the gourmet fjord-side meals and the wildlife experiences (goats, sheep, etc.) they got to have with Nordic. The paddling was absolutely stunning, and the day hike was some of our students favorite views of the entire two week trip in Norway with my company. Would do this trip again and again!

I already did the trip with nordic ventures a few years ago, and knew I wanted to come back some time. The views are amazing and seeing the steep hillsides from the water is such an aweinspiring experince. We had a really nice day on the water, and even got to see some seals in the distance.
Our guide, Jordan, had a very calm, positive and friendly vibe which made everyone comfortable and at ease while paddeling. Always kept a well adjusted pace and gave clear instructions, and stopped from time to time to share interesting facts about the different parts of the fjord. He also made a really tasty lunch.
All in all, a very enjoyable experience, I highly recommend!

My partner and I are interested in doing the 3 day kayaking and hiking tour in mid-May. Can I ask how cold does it actually get during the day and at night?
Written February 5, 2022
Hi, well I went end of September so it was mild during the day, maybe 15 degrees or so. The nights were pretty cold, you need some worm clothes!

Hi, I would like to do a 1 day kayak tour from Bergen. Do you have any options for this? Also, do you provide collection from Bergen?
Written July 24, 2019
Hi Shazza - I'm not answering on behalf of Nordic Ventures but only based my own recent brilliant experience of taking a kayak tour with them. Their pick up location is in Voss not Bergen. The journey from Bergen to Voss is easy, allow about 90 minutes for the trip, 60-80 minutes for the train and 10 minutes to walk to the car park where you will be collected. There is a train that leaves from Bergen Stasjon approximately once every hour and costs about 226 NOK. You can buy the ticket from station no need to buy in advance. The view on the train journey is great. If you are starting your journey from Bergen airport there is a shuttle bus to Bergen Stasjon approximately every half an hour. I hope you have a memorable kayaking experience.

Hi All
I am interested in booking the 3 day tour but my wife has back issues which we have to be careful with, can you advise what you sleep on & if you have to carry a rucksack when you hike on day 2. Also how did you travel from Bergen? We are thinking of train.
Written May 4, 2019
Hi. The 3 day tour is great but for your wife, sitting in a kayak for 2 days may aggravate depending on the problem. You use your core to kayak. Also the hike is very long and very steep in parts. We were out from 8.30 to 7pm - plenty of rest stopa but a long time walking. You do have to carry your own rucksack. We were part of a tour group so were transported from Bergen via minibus. Good luck with your choice. :-)
