We spent an incredible April day out on the fjords around Balestrand with Captain Tor and can't recommend the experience enough.
There was (successful) fishing, speeding along in the boat, seeing some amazing sights, and hearing some local history and great stories from Tor who is a great host.
This is a must if you're in the Balestrand area.

We had an absolutely brilliant time with Balestrand Fjord Angling. Captain Tor is a special, charming person who helped me plan out a beautiful and unforgettable proposal to my now-fiancée. He put a serious amount of thought, preparation, and time into making sure our trip was extra-memorable and full of surprises.
We went out in the middle of heavy snow, and Captain Tor had no problem at all replacing some of the invisible scenery with his charismatic tales of the quite astonishing local history of Balestrand, and a collection of some of the local sea-life.
We'll never forget our brilliant day on the snowy fjords, and we'll be back as soon as we can. If you ever go to Norway, give Captain Tor a call. You won't regret it!

Once upon a time, deep in a fjord, a man (and he was very brave) had decided to propose to his chosen lady.... Yes, so he decided to go to Norway and search for a magical rose he had heard of grew there... deep in a fjord. But this Magic Rose only appeared when it's snowy weather you see. And they only seemed magical if it was true love...
- Hmmm Jonathan thought a lot. But in the end he persuaded his beautiful lady to go on holiday to the promised Sognefjord. The trip went well and they drove the car and a ferry and the sun shone every day. And the more the sun shone, the quieter Jonathan became. But the lady thought the trip was really great. And he couldn't tell why he was so thoughtful either. Because the magic rose only worked when it was snowing!
-Then one day it snowed. Captain Tor, who showed where the rose grew, took it all very calmly. In warm clothes, they crossed the deepest fjord together, drank water from a frozen river and saw many strange dragon houses and a starfish on the way.
- Then they finally arrived and the lady didn't understand a thing. Jonatan gracefully jumped out of the boat and climbed up a snow-covered mountain and BEHOLD there stood the magical rose, glowing with joy. Each knight always has a diamond ring for his chosen one ready and Jonatan got down on one knee and declared his love for his fair maid! "Roses are red and my hands are frozen blue and I love you SO ... and be my wonderful wife "
Her beautiful princess heart melted of true love,.... the tears rolled and the snow melted on her blushing cheeks .. and she gave her YES to her handsome prince...
And then they lived happily ever after ;)

Great 3 hour experience for our family of 5 (kids’ ages 7, 10, and 13). Captain Tor did a great job finding ways for everyone to be involved in the experience. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the area, what it was like growing up here, and of course the boating and fishing. We caught sharks, starfish, mackerel, lobster, crab, and much more. Captain Tor gave good instructions on how to filet and cook the mackerel as well as what to serve with it.

My husband and son loved their fishing experience with Captain Tor! They caught and released a shark and pulled in crabs, flounder, haddock and starfish. They also saw porpoises and an eagle nest as well as herons. Captain Tor had many great stories of the area. Overall a great morning!

Words can not express how great this experience is. We came to fish. Went home from one of the best tours we ever experienced (along with four delicious fish).
Capt. Tor is authentic and one heek of a story teller. He knows his childhood area like his back pocket and is eager to share his authentic stories with you, when you're on board his little private fishing boat. He makes the trip around four nearby fjords in an adequate pace. The length of the ride is perfect. Had it been one bit longer our minds would have exploded from all the beauty we witnessed. We came to fish. We came home with an extraordinary nature experience. Thank a million Capt. Tor!

It’s not just a fishing trip, it’s more of seeing the fjord from the local perspective. Captain Tor knows everything about the fjord, you can ask him and he will answer all your questions!
You will have unique chance to hear the story about One of the most longest and deepest fjord in the world and see the wild places that you cannot go with the car.

My 22-y-o son and I had a fantastic time with Captain Tor on the "unique outing" to a remote fjord along with a e-bike ride to a glacier. The weather was wet and cool, but Captain Tor brought us an extra suit to change into for our return trip. He and his family have lived in Balestrand for generations and it was wonderful to get his perspective on the history and culture of the area. And, of course, the views were out of this world. The only thing that would have made it even better would have been a stop at a cafe in Fjaerland for a hot drink and a snack.

Thanks to you two wonderful Vikings, who ventured into an unknown, desolate and abandoned fjord among high mountains and waterfalls. Definitely a lot of waterfalls this day!

This was by far my family's favorite part of our trip through the fjords. Captain Tor knows exactly where to go and how to tailor the trip to his audience. Both my 12-year-old and my 50 year-old husband (who isn't a fan of traveling) were thrilled with the views, the fishing and the stories. My little guy was so impressed, he decided he would like to live in Balestrand when he grows up:)

The fabulous, somewhat mysterious Captain Tor, lives in Balestrand, known for his magical, authentic and genuine fjord experiences. He is among the best fjord guides the Sognefjord has fostered and as we all know: Real experiences are created from within!
In the Sognefjord we say "Cold hands - Warm heart "

Captain Thor gave us the fishing trip of a lifetime in Balestrand. It’s was the perfect mix of informative, fun personalized stories, amazing views, and fishing! We can’t wait to come back and go on another trip! My soul feels refreshed.

We really enjoyed our boat tour with Tor. He is from the area, and does a great job showing the sights of Balestrand and the fjord from the water in a very relaxed way. He explained the history of the area, pointed out many historic buildings, and showed us his fish traps. The fishing portion of the trip was minimal, and could easily be skipped, especially for adults.

Is all equipment provided and included in the cost. How long is each fishing trip and hiw much will it cost. Do we need to book on advance.

Price 2019 is 2300 nok private tour. Includes Suits, life jacket, boots and Fishing geir. Card payment when arrival. Yes, mail, phone or SMS reservation in advance. If I not answer and I'm out fishing and will not disturb my guest's.. Send an SMS :) Regards from Capt Thor
