We spent 4 days in this place. It was fantastic time. Beautiful building with a Tuscan atmosphere, great room overlooking the vineyards. Always smiling people (at restaurant, reception, ladies who care about cleanliness). Special thanks to Christina who prepared a wine tasting for us ( you are great:)). I recommend to visit a restaurant, the dishes very tasty and the first class service.
Guys, if you plan to visit Tuscany, do not hesitate, choose this place! Really worth!

This place has been an absolute highlight of our trip so far. We were made to feel so welcome by Christina and Sabrina (sorry if this is spelt incorrectly). They gave a fantastic explanation of how the wines are made and the differences between the wines they produce. This was accompanied by some lovely bread and fantastic olive oil. The rooms here looked amazing and, although we didn’t stay, we would definitely recommend and can’t wait to return!

Thank you

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It’s so picturesque! The tasting room is beautiful with modern lucite Phillipe Stark (possibly knock off) Ghost chairs contrasted by the 1,000 year old stone walls- so cool! We especially enjoyed their Chianti Gran Reserva, and also the Reserva. You can buy the bottles for $5 more in the states- however their dessert wine is fantastic and they don’t export it. I believe they only make 700 bottles a year and it’s aged 7 years- it’s worth shipping home! The staff speaks great English and is so helpful- worth the visit!

Rocca di Castagnoli is one of the larger and more prestigious wine makes in Tuscany. You will find their wine outside of Italy easily, sold through many specialized shops and online wine sellers. Knowing the brand and some of their wines I came here with my family to get some first hand knowledge about the cellars and the wine making and wasn't disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly and cheerful team, our reserved table waiting for us. We started with a tour through their cellar before sitting down to taste. And here is where the fun really started.
We got to taste of their White, Rose, Chianti Classico, the Riserva, the Stielle and the Buriano (Cabernet Sauvignon). What made the experience even more interesting was to taste the young vintages and compare them with older ones to see how the wine is able to age. To top it off we tried some Vin Santo which undoubtedly is one of the finest around.
I recommend you come here with time at hand and in no rush. Our children (15 and 10) were no bother and looked after with water, soft drinks, bread and olive oil. Although not able to drink the wine they were able to smell the differences between each wine which was huge fun for them.
We went away with Olive Oil and some of the their harder to procure wines like the Rose or older vintages and look forward to drink the wine at home.

Arrived here hoping to try some of the great local wines. Honestly the wines were excellent but the reds were overpriced considering what is an offer around the region. However, the service was ordinary, the place was not busy and we sat around a lot waiting to get our samples. The server also stated that as part of the 10€ price for tasting, a glass of wine would be provided, just so you are clear a glass of wine is actually another small taster of wine. He repeatedly said we would have 3 tasters and then a glass, now I get that’s how things can get lost in translation and this may well be one of those things, but considering how slow everything was it just made for an ordinary experience. My wife actually downloaded a service bell noise to ding, mostly for our amusement, but you get the idea. I think sometimes you can go to wineries where the people working in them are so caught up in the mystique that they think that the wine will make up for everything, not the case I’m afraid.

Dear Sir, Thank you for coming to our winery and i'm surprised that you have written "WINE TASTING ONLY" because i want to let you know, if you have not understood, that you have visited our WINE SHOP so what was your expectation? I remember you that regarding the quantity of the glass TASTE does not mean DRINK, so next time maybe you can go in some coffee bar if you want to drink because unfortunately our wine shop is not that kind of place. Finally i inform you that our wines are one of the cheaper in the area, you pay only 13,50 € for a bottle of Chianti Classico and i ensure you that in the majority of the other wineries nearby for the same kind of wine you can pay from 15,00 € to 18,00 €. Looking forward to welcoming you again in the hope that you understand what kind of place you're entering. Andrea Pullano Wine shop and hospitality

Spacious, well-equipped apartment, setting was lovely - magnificent views! We were greeted and made very welcome by Christina when we arrived. The restaurant "il Celliere" was excellent, grounds were lovely, swimming pool was bigger than expected and they're working to improve the surroundings so it will be even better very soon! The wine, of course - excellent! Andrea gave us the background to the vineyard and the wines, as well as tastings of the different vintages. The roses were being tended by a lovely lady who had lived with her husband in our apartment before they moved to Florence before returning to Castagnoli.

The buildings are beautiful, our room looked great but, with the exception of the restaurant (which was an EXCELLENT experience- thanks to Tony and Fuorante) there is zero service and it appears about the same care factor!!!
Our room had no hot water the first night at all (and there was no reception to contact about this) and it was luke warm the next night, checking in was difficult with us being sent away twice, the bed was like sleeping on a hard futon, they could not recommend any tour companies to take us around the area and the heating system clunked loudly every 10 or so minutes (and a few other little irritating things like there was no batteries in the TV remote control).
Most of the small family owned wineries have a couple of rooms or apartments available to rent - stay with them!!! They will bend over backwards to ensure you have a great time and you will experience the real Tuscany.

Rocca Di Castagnoli came highly recommended during our 3 month stay in the Chianti area. The recommendation was spot on. We were greeted by Flavia who was as charming and gracious as they come, beautiful young lady. Flavia gave us a very nice tour of the old cellars which are amazingly well preserved. The wines served were very good, the Chianti Classico was excellent as was the Gran Selezione. Flavia was kind enough to let us try their Morellino Di Scansano which I found excellent, especially the price. There is no extra shipping charges as it is figured into the cost of the bottles which I think were inexpensive based on the quality of these wines. A must surprise to try is their Chardonnay which is aged partially in barrique.
This winery is a must if you are in the Gaiole area. And ask for Flavia.

The cellar tour was also fun! There were interesting and antique wine making equipment in the cellar.

Went to the reception and there were couples having individual tastings. One has to pay of course. The view from the back door is gorgeous and waited there. Asked if I could be helped and said that I did not want a full tasting. Expecting nothing I asked about their Buriano wine. Lady gave me a small taste, then a grappa as well as a sweet desert wine.

Ended up buying two bottles. Now if you expect cheap this is not the place. Paid a fair price and opened a bottle. Awesome wine.

Recommended for a stop and a tasting. They do have a restaurant so that could be included.

Worth the visit. Cantalici is another cellar up the road too.
